The PIN LexisNexis sent me didn't work the first time, I waited about a day and then it came alive.
I wouldn't want this information emailed through a bunch of servers to an account that is under the control of a third party, so that part I actually agree with. Sending the PIN in snail mail eliminates another threat vector, too, which is good. All this does not excuse subpar customer service experience, though.

How do you disable this for both Lexis Nexis and also Verisk?
This really needs to be a class action lawsuit. This shouldn't be legal in the slightest. |

I got rejected 3X by Lexis Nexis, so I called yesterday to "verify" my information. I gave them the same information again and he agreed to send me the letter by mail with the code. I'll let everyone know what I get.
I also got my Verisk letter, which stated there was NO data from GM in their system. Maybe because I never turned on ONStar services, nor did I ever sign up for the smart driving app. |

I believe I was enrolled in smart driver but did the whole opt out process after finding out that you could a few months after owning the car but before reading any threads about Verisk and LexisNexis. I distinctly remember seeing the acceleration/braking events in the Chevy app so I know that at the very least GM was collecting that info about me.
Last week I got a letter from both Verisk and LexisNexis saying they don't have any information on me. I wonder if either they deleted the data or GM requested the data to be deleted. Either way, I'm also not sure if that deletion continues up the chain. Did any entity that bought the driver data from LexisNexis/Verisk have a copy or were they using an API to access the information. I definitely hope it's the latter and that they weren't storing a copy of the data locally. |

LexisNexis and Verisk should also delete all data provided to them by GM.

In fact I did try Smart Driver back in 2018, then quickly turned it off when I realized what it actually did and that my insurance company won't give me a dime off unless I install their spy app, too.

FFS this is such an assache.
Following up here incase it’s relevant for anyone else…I just recieved another letter from Verisk after I got one from literally a month ago stating that they deleted the data…and this new one has all my driving data as of 5/15???? But don’t worry, they “are not providing the data to insurers” Not sure I buy that bs. GM and these data brokers are scum from the bottom up, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some back doors to provide or sell the data behind the scenes. How exactly am i randomly recieving a report with all my supposed deleted data a full month after they sent a letter stating they don’t collect and deleted all the data as of March?. What a goddamn nightmare, LexisNexis is still reviewing my case after 2 months, Verisk is now keeping my data after saying they previously deleted it…. Honestly at this point it is class action time because trying to handle it ourselves obviously is a wasted effort. Insurance is already ungodly expensive these days, and now with this data lurking around I’d be looking at a mortgage payment to just own a car these days. |
