These two pictures are two axles I broke at 463 rwhp on the passenger side. the first one broke at the joint and made a mess, it was the factory axles launched it at about 4800-5000 rpms and it just went. So I figured the 1le axles were better since they had bigger joints, but I guess I was wrong I found the new weak point which the second one as you can see broke at the shaft before the joint at about the same rpms as the first one. So now I'm looking for something that won't break I didn't want to go the 1000 hp axles because I didn't want to shuck the rear differential.

Here are the axle measurements I got:

The new axle joint measurement
Part# 22806796 right
Wheel side 4-1/8
Differential side 3-3/4
Axle length boot to boot 13-5/8
Axle O.D. 1-1/2
The old axle joint measurements
Part# 22813178 right
Wheel side 3-3/4
Differential side3-3/4
Axle length boot to boot 13-7/8
Axle O.D. 1-1/2

The new axle joint measurements
Part# 22806795 left
Wheel side 4-1/16
Differential side 3-7/8
Axle length boot to boot 15"
Axle O.D. 1-1/4
The old axle joint measurements
Part# 22813177 left
Wheel side 3-5/8
Differential side 3-13/16
Axle length boot to boot 15-1/4
Axle O.D. 1-1/4

Old thread, but adding my $.02

I'm running stock L99 for power outside of CAI and cat-back.

I've broken the stock axels twice on track (corvette museum). Once the passenger side split, and the second time both broke at joint.

Word is around track the stock Camaro axels are prone to breaking. But I know of one guy who runs Z28 stock with no problem. I'm looking to upgrade, and IMO any track activity would warrant upgrade.

Running 430 then 470rwhp last season and no issues here. M6 guys have had issues but everyone with automatic has been good on stock axels

What's the difference between the z/28 axle shafts vs the 1LE axle shafts???
Also will the z/28 shafts fit the SS???

Cool So I grenaded my rear end...

So a few weeks ago I was out having some fun in my 2010 Camaro SS (6 speed) and long story short I blew up my rear end. 💥 Car is mostly stock, intake, headers, just the basic bolt on upgrades. That being said I got a quote for $1900 for an upgraded set of gears and all the rest for having a grenaded rear end. I was hoping for some insight on maybe a better direction to go, or if upgraded gears and a rebuild is the right way to go. Also gear ratio and aftermarket manufacture recommendations would be greatly appreciated. It seems the only thing I really know about rear ends is how to destroy them lol.

Any insight would be great.

Cheers 🍻
