10 Speeds, WOW! My 8 speed is all of sudden out of date! Wait, I've got a plan! I'm gonna stick a Gear Vendors overdrive on my 18 SS Vert and I'll have a 16 speed. LOL

A10 would be sweet but not worth it for me.

A previous CARB card showed the M7 under the Camaro.

Oh, I know that. What I meant was - it didn't make any sense to me...choosing the M6 for lower cost or intended application, sure that would make sense to see a change, now...but I distinctly remember one of the engineers saying the M7 didn't fit. Of all the excuses, that one isn't easily back-peddled. So I wasn't a believer of the last CARB certificate.

There are internal differences that make the A10 more efficient than the A8 that are not directly related to the number of forward gears present. Something about brakes A and B being 'nested', and possibly some differences involving fluid flow out of brake B. I happen to have a couple of write-ups on this transmission.
I don't think you'd be doing all that much more paddle-shifting but I could put up an A10 vs A8 comparison plot if you can give me an approximate normal shift rpm, rear tire size, and axle ratio (I'll assume the last two will remain the same unless known to be different). Offhand, I see using 3rd through 6th where you'd currently be using 3rd through 5th and an upshift to 10th where there is no upshift from 8th in the A8 being where you'd notice anything at all being different. Here's what I've got so far. 285/35-20 tires and 3.45 axle ratio assumed, 3500 and 5750 rpms highlighted. Actually, I staggered the axle ratios just a little either side of 3.45 (3.46 vs 3.44) so that most of the traces wouldn't fall exactly on top of each other.
And showing the rpm drops from 4200 rpm (I could have picked any rpm but this one fit the speed scale). Norm

Having both the 8 speed and the 10 speed, I can tell you guys that even a tuned 8 speed hardly holds a candle to the stock 10 speed. The ripping shifts in stock form are just amazing!
Don't mind my tuner's excitement lol |

Completely expected this...glad to see we finally have some decent "proof" of it at this point.
Ya know, when the A8 is working well, I love it. I think its awesome. Its smart, and quick and under WOT its blast. But there is no doubt it (across all platforms its used in) is plagued with TC issues. I've experienced the shudder once myself. It was quite un-nerving and un-mistakable once you are aware of it. So far, the A10 seems to be good, but it hasn't been used nearly as widely yet as the A8. I wonder what it will do for performance? I'm going to guess maybe a tenth for 60 and one or two tenths in the 1/4 mile. The Camaro weight and TQ advantage should be just enough to keep it ahead of the refreshed Mustang and its top end power.
