So its now Tuesday and i had dropped my car off to the dealer Saturday mainly to hear the sounds on a cold start Monday. I called yesterday after not hearing from them the entire day about 6pm after closing. The service manager told me that they are still working on the car and they will call me today by noon. Got a call just before noon saying that they had to order the fluid for the rear diff and it wont be in till Wednesday, I said you mean the ACDelco fluid, he replied Yes... (i did print out the picture from the other thread with what may be the issue as it was) As for my seat recline they had to order the part again since it was a few months ago i was there they sent the part back to wherever. So in all reality i am out a car for work since yesterday and tomorrow as well when i was under the impression the car would be done Monday. Now the crappy part is will it all be fixed correctly and will my car come out the way it came in. I did warn them about the jack points but the guy seemed to understand where i was going with that.

So tomorrow i possibly will have a outcome and will update here when all is said and done. I told the service manager i been out of work since yesterday and today, he asked if i was to go rent a car at enterprise.... I said would have been nice the day i dropped it off rather then me sitting home with nothing and tomorrow car is possibly ready wouldn't make sense now.

I am forever grateful for forums such as this...I too have experienced this EXACT issue as soon as the cold weather kicked in. I dropped my car (w/ 3000 miles) off at the chevy dealer last night so it can sit overnight to reproduce the issue in the morning. I got a call this morning stating the issue was reproduced, service bulletin followed, fluid changed (once) and that it was fixed. I asked if they could flush it a second time as suggested in this forum however they said only if the issue returns. Well it never went away. I picked the car up an hour later and the issue was still there. The mechanic had to go for a drive with me to see/hear it for himself. I didn't even get 2 feet and there it was. Soooo obvious and easy to reproduce. With so many people experiencing this issue I would think Chevrolet could come up with a better way to address this issue. Perhaps change the fluid, DRIVE it, SIT it, TEST it before claiming its fixed? Repeat if necessary? They flushed it a second time while I was there. I'll just have to wait a few cold starts to see if it's still there. Ugh! With all of that said...I still LOVE the new ride:-)

I'm at a loss for words at this point between fluid changes, rear diff replacement, additional fluid changes, and another rear diff on order. Hope someone figures this issue out soon.

After a cold start, and when the temp outside is under about 70 degrees, when I make my first hard turn I hear a rubbing sound which you can hear in the first 3 seconds of this video (might be hard to hear with the acceleration noise) and occasionally a thud. There is absolutely nothing physically rubbing in or around my wheel well. I am guessing this is the same issues others are having?

I can only guess these issues are due to the rear differential unless someone with more expertise could chime in?
This was the exact sound my rear diff was putting out. I was just reading through the thread back a bit more and glad i found this video. Thanks again guys for posting some good info! Have to see tomorrow when i get my car back, hopefully they got this nasty noise to go away.

Ok, so for the update on my car... Picked it up from the dealer this morning as they said it was completed. 3 things were completed. First the seat recline, second the inspection, and lastly the most important the rear diff noise. Everything was taken care of and the noise has now vanished. They did drain and flush the fluids and seemed to take care of the problem after i drove it again on a cold start. I do have a smell of that diff oil after i got home from the dealer , but i guess its normal till it gets more settled in. I am happy my car came out the same way i brought it in. I did contact GM for a extra level of support and they did do everything they can to make sure i was pleased. I was also happy they kept my car inside for the few days it was there. Overall i am feeling much better my car is back in my Garage! Also you can use this tool/advise as some others say works well, all the dealers get the customer surveys and rely on them 100% -

Awesome to hear! Hopefully that is fixed and the noise will not come back.

It came back ..... I drove yesterday after sitting all night from the day before and what do you know, the noise is back in full force from the rear. Makes me pissed i wasted 4 days for this all for me to bring it back and them either drain flush and refill again or replace the whole dam thing. Just a big F'N headache!

I heard that some people are driving it for a month or so before the noise goes away after a fluid change...maybe give it some time, but otherwise that sucks! GM needs to come up with a solid fix soon!

Here is a message I just sent back to the GM person on these threads. I think we really need to start hammering GM and not just the threads to get a resolution. I have had my rear diff replaced, sound came back. Replaced fluid started making the noise pulling out of the lot and still doing it after a few weeks of driving.

My dealership has told me they have called in and that GM told them this is normal and that they are not to do any further repairs on my Vehichle for this issue. This is completely BS and I am not happy, actually worried is a better description. Since you are obviously on this Camaro6 forum you can see that there are a ton of people who are also having this issue with no resolve. Add me to the list of very unhappy, concerned owners. I would like resolution just as everyone else. At least assurances that GM recognizes the issue and is working on a resolution.

Sounds like you need to change your dealership. Mine took my car in checked the fluid on my request and replaced the rear end no questions asked.

Is that your first replacement? I've already had mine replaced and then the fluid. Also my dealership is working hard for me but has run into the GM roadblock.
