First event in the 2020 Camaro with HPS 5.0 in the front... The cars stopping power feels pretty amazing on the Hoosiers still and the ability to yaw the car into a braking zone is quite different over the 2017. It's really too early to tell but I feel like this is going to be a huge game changer on certain courses that challenged the earlier calibrations.

We needed the car to be more efficient under braking. From what Nicole can remember, it feels more like the C7GS stopping power wise. Hard pedal is minimal - was comparing the course on Saturday to a friend with a C6Z and we used to have similar hard pedal issues... Saturday, it was non existent for us.

Hello everyone, I want to say thanks for all your valuable inputs on this thread. I have autoxed for 14 ish yrs and recently got a 18 SS 1LE, Im racing in BS and love the cars versatility from comfortable driving to the track yet still fast on track. . I'm currently stock with the track alignment (2.6deg neg front camber)
My goal is to stay in bs and do some upgrades Is this the front sway bar people recommend for the SS 1LE? https://www.jegs.com/i/Hotchkis/515/...xoCeXAQAvD_BwE I'm also saving for 19in wheels to go 305 on all corners. Thanks , Eric |

Has anyone done any back to back tire testing on the SS 1LE?
I ran a 305/30/19 square RE71R last year but now that the Rival S 1.5 in the same size is cheaper I'm tempted to try a set of those. And to add to the options there are some folks saying the stock GYSC3's could be in the noise, especially now that they come in 295/30/19F and 325/30/19R. And of course the 295/35/20 Yokos Quote:
That's the one, though I recommend buying from Jeff @ ProParts USA

So I am looking for next years tires for my BS '19 1LE, and not sure which way to go.
I use a set of 19x10 and 19x11 APEX Arc8s as my autocross wheels. Last year I used square 305/30R19 RE71s, and they worked well enough. I would like to stick to the RE71s over the Rivals as the temperatures are cooler up here, and I think they work better in the rain (I daily drive these, save the stock wheels and GY tires for track days.) So, do I stick to the 305/30R19s, or do I go down to 285/30R19s? I can't do 285 front and 305 rear, since the 285s are larger diameter and that would make the ABS angry, so I am stuck with square of one or the other. I know the conventional wisdom is bigger is better, but 305s are really too big for a 10 inch wheel, so I am giving up a lot of responsiveness and possibly grip as well. Would I be better off putting a 285 on both ends? The 285 calls for a 9.5 to 11 inch wheel, putting it within the specifications for both ends, while a 305 calls for a 10.5-11.5 inch wheel, putting it out of spec for the front wheel. So is it better to stay in the wheel spec with a 285, or go out of spec pinched on the front with a 305? This is the dilemma I am facing. Anyone tested something like this? |

Is that a gut feel or is there testing you know about? I'm not criticizing as I think you are probably right, but I have been trying to find hard evidence that is the case - Andy Hollis did some testing in GRM that showed that going from a pinched tire to a wider in spec wheel on the same tire added significant grip, but that doesn't help us specifically in this case where you can't change wheel width. What I am looking for is data that shows how a pinched tire compares to a nominal width tire on the same wheel, and whether that will offset the amount of grip lost by losing 20mm off the rear tire with both options being "in spec" on the rear wheel.

Its why I ran 275s on the type r where others were going with 285s. I liked the sharpness and overall grip of that tire and it worked for me. I will say as i am in the same boat with weather, its 90% the reason i run the Re71R. It works in all the weather we have here.

All that being said, it felt pretty sharp on the 305s, and co drivers felt the same, so I may just stick to what I know unless I can find some other data. Thanks for the help! |

Most of the time unless you are a top level driver the difference between a 285 and 305 is "within the noise" on the 10" wheel. It's a lot more of a PITA the mount the 305 on a 10" as well as you probably know by now. I don't think it matters that much, I'd probably run the 305sq but that would be for flipping rotation reasons more than anything. That said I do run the 305s sq in my CAMC setup.

What are the general thoughts of the 1LE in BS? I see a few people are planning on running them this year, is it expected to be the car to have?

That said I think this year is a crap shoot on whats "the car to have" Its going to be diverse this year for sure especially with the Zsupra and M2 Comp pack going into BS this year. Personally I think the supra is too soft, but its going to be so much more nimble around course. M2 comp could be interesting.. Always the GT350 will be there. Hard to say honestly, all i know is this year I have the car I wanted to own, not "the one for the class"
