Because its illegal in a lot of the amateur racing circuits.

Everything is a compromise. The SS is better for the street but not as good on the track. The 1LE is better on the track but not as comfortable on the street. GM has said this and that's why they build multiple models and options.

MRC makes a street suspension work better on the track. It doesn't make a street suspension a track suspension.

Theyre racing in circuits where its not illegal /shrugs

That's why I keep saying option. Let the people that will use the car for tracking use it in the class it should be in, those of us that wont use the car to compete, can enjoy the car a little more.

Part of me wouldn't be surprised to see a 1LE/2LE break down, with one being more track focused, one being more street focused, but that starts to add too many SKUs

Yeah, if people want to check every option box it could get that high, but getting a 1LE, and then getting all the techno gadgets and doodads IMO would make zero sense.
Why? Its 2016 I want all the tech and comfort while having a car that can pull 1.10+ G in a corner

Might get hate for this but I prefer DSSV dampers instead of Magnetic Ride. Maybe they will offer both as an option.

The 1LE is a track pack, all these gadgets and gizmos add weight...I hope GM actually blocks some goofy options from the 1LE like they did for the Z28. IMO, if you want all that stuff, just buy an SS.

I agree. MRC is great, but for a track focused car I'd rather DSSV as well...

I thought DSSV has the similar pros/cons with less weight but more expense.

MRC can control "valving" independent from damper speed and damper position. also control each shock independent from each other.
If that can't provide better feedback on a track, they're doing it wrong.
See the link that was provided.

In short: Mag Ride is an active suspension, which means it changes depending on a myriad of variables. Competitive racers hate that. They want to be able to predict their vehicle's motions, and responses reliably. DSSV is tuned dampers to the utmost of accuracy capable in a street car, today. DSSV is *not* dynamic, nor electronic...it doesn't adjust.

I don't think they're significantly more or less heavy than MRC, either. I'd be curious to know...

It will. Don't worry.

I've had both...and I like both equally for different reasons. If someone made me choose right now, I'd probably opt for MRC because ultimately while I track the car regularly...it lives 95% of its life as my daily driver.

DSSV tuning would incur very high expenses...not to mention the option alone might be nearly as much as the 1LE package, itself!

In terms of weight/options - one of the best things I like about my 1LE, and why I wouldn't have gone out of my way to get a Z/28 is because I like all the luxury items for my daily driving. And I like the 1LE capabilities when I bring that same car to the track for some fun.

Being able to opt for a 2SS AND get the track tuning from 1LE made my day. This is an easy option to give people, and harms no one.

I have a sneaking suspicion that they are with holding lap time prepped cars for the release of the 1LE. They really liked using the 5th gen 1LE for all the magazine comparisons once it was released.

My 1LE is my DD and I track it, I'm glad that my 1LE comes with creature comforts.
