I am curious did you have any mods on the car? I wonder if you had say, an oil catch can on your car, do you think they would have still covered it under warranty?

Hawk - ZERO mods of any kind. I do NOT mod my cars because I track them and know therefore any issues I have will receive greater scrutiny by the warranty gods. As for mods and warranty - my experience is that it varies from dealer to dealer and the specific issue/problem. I just do not risk it for my sanity.

that's what I figured too. saving the cost of a carbon cleaning every 60-80k isn't worth the cost of losing my warranty.

Thanks. Now I'm thinking I will see if I can send my Oil collector I just bought back.

look for a loose plug somewhere. Might save yourself a dealer trip. It's easy to miss a plug when there are probably dozens that have to be reconnected when installing a new engine.

Just watched and listened to the engine failure event like 10 times. Sounds like rod bearings got chewed up OR piston ringlands let go. Freaky sound...one of which I've personally had happen to me once before on a built motor (4cyl) I put together. #4 rod bearing spun after 700 break-in miles when I downshifted from 5th to 2nd on the street.

It was a freaky sound, and I could feel every bit of it through the accelerator pedal. I don't ever want that feeling again.

That's funny since it's a DBW pedal

Vintage- I am so glad to hear that your motor is back together. I hope the AC issue gets sorted quickly. That video of yours is a thing of beauty... until about the 1:45 mark or so.

Car is back and A/C now works as designed. I will be tracking it on April 15th and I will post any good PDR video. Hopefully, you guys never hear from me again about warranty issues or this thread!
