Guys- I realized something weird today: My grandfather Maxton M. Midgett commanded LST-1178 and my Z/28 is #1178. Talk about a freaky coincidence! I couldn't be happier.

Okay... so math isn’t my strong suit, but 509 cars produced in 2014, and the 2015 I’m driving has a F9700037 VIN.. so that makes it the 546th Z. That’d make a good license plate |

Technically. No. Because, there were 4 CTF cars for 2015. Yours would be 550th built.

Zslash28 keeps the registry. Buy his stats, you had 509 cars produced in 2014, then there were 4 CTF cars for 2015. So 1172 +509 + 4 So that should mean yours is #1685, if my math checks out. What was the build date? |

Here's a list of 2014 and 2015 that have registered here. You were 2015 #1172 and one of the last Z/28s built. |

515 IMHO is a bad number to use. 69 CTF, 440 Production, and 6 no vin test cars which were never accounted for in the original break down by the OP. If we are going to say XXX 2014 Z/28s produced it should be 509, because those all can be owned.

440 VIN sequenced production cars. You can play numbers with CTF pre-production cars all day long. Lots of different combinations of things happen with those. |

I did 3 years of leg work with the database to accurately detail how many cars were produced. Not that it was hard, but I also had an actual job to do so it was off/on for 3 years. There were 69 CTF cars, 440 regular production. CTF cars are sequentially vinned too and its just as easy to track those as it is the Regular production cars. NS cars mean nothing to "production", because they are not production. They will never see life outside of testing purposes then be eventually scrapped. I.E, one of them is an autocross cars now, for young people to practice limit handling at GM. Another has an LT5 crate engine in it, for validating the now released LT5 crate. One of them got repeatedly rolled into concrete barriers. etc etc In 2014 there was 69 CTF vehicles, built. Not 68, not 71..not 75..69 440 regular production. +5 vehicles for testing purposes, they do not get a valid vin number..they get an EX vin which would be something like 2G1FS...EX, and a door stick that say the same and NOT FOR PUBLIC SALE real big on the door, and they all meet the same fate..unless as mentioned they can be repurposed as an asshauler for someone on grounds. They will never see a customers hands. There are 1801 production Z/28's, trust me. I spent a lot of time on that..and FWIW, showed it to the powers that be before running my mouth about it. The people that hand out those statements dont have access to the database, they have access to how many LS7's were dropped in a vehicle, whether it be a crash dummy car..a car we're gonna do a 24HR roadcourse test with, a CTF car, or a production customer car. |
