the 1LE still does get ice mode(hard pedal) but it its harder to hit ice mode. if that makes sense.

Basically from talking with the engineers is since the 1LE was tested with sticky tires they were able to work around the problem where as a regular SS was never tested with actual track tires so when you put something like an RE71R on it tends to freak out!

Oddly enough since I drive mine year round up here.. I never ever get "ice mode" in the winter... lol

Yah I had a 2015 1LE on square 305 RE71R's and some custom Koni's and the car got ice mode so much I sold it after 5 events, absolutely awful feeling getting hard pedal as it takes away your confidence.

Here's to hoping the soon to be released 2019+ brake controler addresses some of these problems and supercedes the 2017-18 unit.

honestly thats exactly why im looking at a 2019 mustang or a new 2019 Camaro. I don't think the car will be any faster but having that confidence and knowing the car will brake when you ask it to is huge to me.

Also don't expect that to happen. If gm wanted to do that they could but they would have to do a whole lot of tests make sure it works on the older cars(it will but they won't pay). Plus they would have to admit the brakes are an issue, and outside of the relatively small motorsports community it just isn't an issue.

I'm still cautiously optimistic, I don't see there being any real changes to the brake controller other than the conditions that cause hard pedal being reduced, no reason it wouldn't be backwards compatible. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed it supersedes the 17-18 brake controller part #.

Also what options are there for 19x10/19x11 wheels for these cars? MRR & Forgestar anything else that's not crazy expensive?
I believe the Mag ride does a lot to keep the car flat so it will be less prone to ice mode. However, I think any Camaro that spins the tires going into a braking zone will experience the ice mode.

MRR is probably the cheapest right now, if you need a quote, I can PM you.

My Testing was 265/275/285 on a 8.5" wheel. I haven't done a back to back with the 305 vs 285 on a 10" wheel. Just went straight to a 285, however, driving a friends SS 1LE with 305's on the 10" is some what "okay" on higher grip surfaces, which 285's vs 265's on a 8.5" wheel were close. However, lower grip asphalt porous surfaces really show the differences in the speed between the two.

The hotchkis bar on full soft is about 40% stiffer over the SS 1LE bar and full stiff is 90% stiffer.

If you need a quote on that as well, you can PM me.

Thanks Jeff^

I'm first going to see where they class the 1LE, if it stays in AS I may just do a mild CAM build

According to the Hotchkiss website the 40% and 90% stiffer is in relation to a stock SS bar not a 1LE bar?

Curious as to why it wouldn't be legal in street class? If the part is functionally the same and the part number supersedes the existing one it should be legal, otherwise if said part failed on a car the owner would be unable to have his car fixed at the dealership in a way that is legal?

The #'s on the website are wrong unfortunately, the actual #'s against the SS bars are ranging from 70%-125% over the stock SS bar.

UOTE]

I don't get ice mode, I heard GM has the ABS calibrated for the stickier 1LE tires.

because its not a factory replacement part.

If they make it as such, yes but as of right now its not.

to add another data point, I have experienced ICE mode in a 1LE a few times. One day in particular comes to mind, In the video below, @ the :43 second mark I was having issues with ice mode on all 3 of my first runs and on my last run I broke way early to avoid it. Then again at the 1:00 mark I experienced it and nearly went through a cone wall.
