everything is being prepped to go live
Looking to activating our sponsor account on 19 December on here. Website should be 100% live on that date as well. Ironing out the final bugs on the site this week and getting the last bits of work done to the car this week as well. Aiming for a dyno date this coming weekend. |

This project is badass! My only real concern is the intercooler. After working on countless body kits I always cringe when you have to modify, or remove structural pieces like the bumper reinforcement. I like the new design much better. I believe that your mounting profile should be boxed. I regard Goertz as a highly skilled fabricator with plenty of initiative. The way I see it we can meet, exceed, or fall short of OEM specifications. This is my favorite thread on camaro6

The intercooler is going to come off again in about a week to add mounting provisions for the radiator core support brackets, diff cooler right under the ic, and we will be adding a provision for a tow hook attachment.
I just tossed the brackets together last night to get it to the dyno today and be good enough for fixturing. The intercooler that will be going out in kits will essentialy be a new bumper support.

I just have to say that your intercooler is totally bad@zz! I cannot imagine any problem with intake temps with that monster. I'm sure other big horsepower forced induction guys with air to air intercoolers would consider purchasing that thing all by itself if you would consider fabricating and selling those as a stand alone item.

@Jess
Yes sir that was part the idea. I will offer options for alternate end tank and inlet outlet contributions so that it can accommodate any setup |

Thought yall might enjoy seeing some the fab pics from the intercooler and installed daylight pics
The laser/sheet metal shop that is my day job is hooking me up with the laser/bending for the intercooler endtanks. Material is 5052 aluminum 3/16" thick. I've successfully run 1/8" wall intercoolers (fully welded, not bent from one piece so not quite as strong) as high as 30lbs of boost before so 3/16" should be good for a solid 40lbs or so. The sheet metal intake manifolds I built (although much less surface area) was 3/16 walls on the sides 1/8" on the top and it we pressure tested them to 50lbs of boost with zero issues. Needless to say I will gaurantee the 3/16 wall to 40lbs and if someone wants more boost I can make the tanks out of 1/4" for added security. |

I had built a custom forming die for the bottom end tank for the 3" pipe
the end tank is 4.5" wide by 2.25" tall, I had to build a forming die to expand the 3" tube to that size and shape for ease of welding. Also had to machine a mandrel to go in the round side to maintain its roundness. The setup worked flawlessly. I am ordering a bead roller so no more tacked on beads to prevent silicone slippage. That will make alot nicer product and take me alot less time, it can be a pita maneuvering around a huge intercooler without scratching it to get all those little tacks done... |

i tossed together a makeshift jig out of the old bumper support. The intercooler piping locations on my last intercooler was perfect so I replicated those spots, then I had to cut out all the material in the middle to fit the core within it. I then bent a 1" sch40 aluminum pipe and stitch welded it down the length of the bumper support to maintain its shape and angles for the mounting brackets.
After this it was really easy centering my new intercooler and leveling it and getting the in and out pipes in the exact lengths to work as a simple bolt on. |

The new intercooler was a major pita to install because I didn't think (it was 30F and nearly pitch black outside when I was putting the car back together at my house) to cut the black plastic radiator shrouding. I pretty much had to crush it down to get the intercooler on. The holes all lined up flawlessly with the mounting brackets though and the pipes went on easy.
I am going to pull the intercooler off and build my production jig of it within the next week. When I do this I will offset the core towards the front of the car enough so that the black plastic shrouding shouldn't need to be cut, I will also need to offset the top charge pipe towards the back of the end tank to keep proper alignment with the silicone that is snaked beside the headlight. Minor adjustments for a easier install for the end user... The bottom charge pipe has plenty of room for moving around so nothing needs to be done with it |

And finally some pictures of it all installed
![]() The pictures kind of dark but if you look closely through the top air vent opening in the hood by the Chevy emblem you can see the end tank is up that high and the clamp going onto the charge pipe back into the engine bay The charge pipes are powder coated locally by a friend of mine that owns a coating business. The G1Pro was powder coated one white first then he put on a decal so that when he sprayed the black and pulled it off the white powder coat would be there just for the logo. I am actually working with a company to get the top charge pipe from the tb all the way to the intercooler made out of 1 piece silicone. Just spray on some wd40 to lube it and shove it through the headlight opening. One simple piece for a very nice install and impossible to blow off. Only 1 clamp on tb and 1 on the ic. |
