The stang always sold more, I don't understand.

LOL! That reminds me of the time I raced a 98 Mustang GT with my 2017 V6 Impala and beat the stang!!!

It does indeed cost a LOT. But I'm not so sure its priced incorrectly given that there are a number of other vehicles that have put in similar times as the GTD for similar $.

2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Weissach Package (991.2) - 6:56.4 - $218,500 ($274,525.28 w/inflation)
2014 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Package - 6:57 - $929,000 ($1,238,058.42 w/inflation)
2024 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS (982) w/Manthey Perf. Kit - 6:58.092 - $239,991
2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991.2) - 6:58.28 - $293,200 ($377,119.16 w/inflation)

Are they also disappointing given their cost?

Well, they are Porsches and not Mustangs. Overall a far higher end, better built, and more desirable car overall. They also do it with less hp.

Keep in mind all those cars came out 5+ years ago. Auto tech can change a decent amount in that time. The mustangs time is a little disappointing to me. This might not sound fair however this has always been a big reason to buy American, but when an American car costs 2-300k I expect it to be able to EASILY beat CURRENT cars in that price range as well. Right now it’s slower than cars in that price range that are currently out.

Why do I expect more from a 300k Mustang? Because prior American cars like the ZLE, viper ACR, z06/zr1 had been beating cars priced way higher than them so I expected the mustang GTD to do the same just like its predecessor (s550 GT500) was doing.

That Mustang is HEAVY! Aluminum frame and carbon fiber panels and still 4K lbs. The Porsches are about 3200-3300?

The Viper was about 3400lbs

Greatest ever Camaro for sale at one of the big auctions.
https://www.motor1.com/news/744907/g...ever-for-sale/

This Camaro is even lighter yet, and started life as a $3,000-something car. But, it's Nurburgring time would probably suck.
