I installed my CAI about a month and a half ago. Didn't have whistling at first but now I do. It kind of sounds cool though lol. Doesn't really bother me at all.

Our R&D team is diligently researching a possible way to cancel out the noise, this takes time and we will definitely keep everyone updated.

Reminder, the noise is generated from the OEM intake manifold and will be enhanced by ANY aftermarket air intake system that is less restrictive. We have sold a large quantity of our new 2016 Camaro air intake systems and we have only heard about the "whistle noise" from approximately 2% of our customers.

We have done extensive research regarding the "whistle noise" since the very first day that we were informed about it. We have confirmed that some of the OEM Camaro6 vehicles do indeed come with the noise. Early numbers show that there is a small percentage of OEM vehicles that have the noise and there is speculation that different castings (intake manifold) may have been used (on some vehicles) during production.

Until there is a solution, if anyone finds the noise to be intolerable, they can either go back to the stock box (which will muffle the whistle noise) and wait for a solution or they can return their system for a refund.

Bottom line, we are here for our customers, we stand by our products and we are very appreciative of all of our loyal customers and great dealers!
I've been getting the whistle on mine too, I was thinking it was coming from the exhaust. But, when you're going fast it's hard to tell where it's coming from exactly. Will you send out an email if a fix is available?

Question for the people at CAI..,,,,,why does the filter have to be in the exact position? Reason being is that my car threw a 2099 yesterday. And I guess during the installation while lining up the maf tube, the filter was spun about an inch counterclockwise from mark. The filter being a round cone and all sides being equal, why does it have to be exactly in its position?

Thanks

Thanks for purchasing our system!

Please make sure that everything is lined up correctly when installing the system and there will not be a CEL.

Thanks for the heads up. I thought i had everything lined up during the install but I forgot to rotate the filter back to the spot when spinning the MAF tube to the dot. All 3 dots are lined up now, even though the filter was just off by an inch to the left of the dimple. Hopefully no codes now.

However im still curious as to why. This isn't my first intake I've ever done. I've installed intakes on other cars over the years, dual cold air intakes on my 350z and none were ever this anal about filter alignment. Correct me if I'm wrong but the filter is round cone type so essentially all sides are the same. The only part of the filter that's different is the seam where the element comes together. Does this seam, lining up with the MAF sensor angle help "block" some air going past the sensor to keep it from "seeing" too much air?

Thanks

I had a check engine light about a week after I installed it. . I didn't check the code. I disconnected the battery, pulled the maf back out and checked the gasket and it was fine. Put it back together and made sure everything was tight. Connected the battery and fired it back up. Not had a light since and still no whistle. I hear it sucking in a lot of air when I get on it and that's good.

So I installed my CAI and it seems my metal housing lacks the dot to line everything up. I have since just lined it up the best I could based on images CAI has posted online. No CEL yet, but kind of odd my housing unit lacks a dot.
