again, that doesn't prevent dedicated people from devising ways to remotely access your machine and turn those cameras on.

And I read something where they said that the kinect functionality was a requirement for the entire system to operate.

I think your underestimating the security of xbox. No one has ever been hacked on Xbox. Outside the stupidity of said person. It's not easy. Remember that big ordeal when ps3 was hacked to show security holes and credit card information was taken. Didn't happen for Xbox cause there was none

Actually, Hackers have gotten into Xbox consoles and stolen peoples gamer accounts.

See this is where the Xbox360 did it right. I'm ok with using MS Points because I can purchase those point cards in stores and they have no actual monetary value.

My PS3 doesn't have my credit card info stored on it, for just the reasons you mentioned. I always buy the cards at Gamestop and enter the codes to get my credits.

Some articles:

http://redmondmag.com/articles/2013/...live-hack.aspx

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/security/x...nts-stolen/131

http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2012/02/...-being-hacked/

http://www.theverge.com/2013/3/19/41...ccounts-hacked

http://www.destructoid.com/xbox-live...--219144.phtml

I can keep going...did the PS3 screw it up as well? yes. Is MS above reproach? Nope. But at least on the current system I can set it up so that it goes to a dummy email account with no real name attached to it with no financial information attached to the gamer profile etc.

Doesn't seem like you will be able to do that on XB1

Yes it was and that was quite embarrassing. With MS' setup on the XB1 could you imagine the sh*tstorm that would erupt if Live was down for more than 24 hours? You wouldn't be able to play games.

Is MS expecting that to happen? Obviously not. But neither was Sony and their network still collapsed.

Here's the difference though, when that happened you could still play your PS3 games. If it happened with the XB360, you would still be able to play your games. If this happened, with what we all know about the XB1 at the moment, you would be locked out. Yes you could play for a few hours but eventually you would be required to phone home.

look, I'm not trying to start a war. I just explained why, at the present moment, the PS4 seems like a better fit for me.

I don't forsee them (and this is speculation) continuing to make the MS points cards if they're trying to centralize all of the transactions through live. At some point it seems like they may switch over to real currency (like the PS3) utilizes.

Again, that's why I said "seems" it could be wrong.

Absolutely. I'm not even trying to argue. I'm just conversing

Your concerns are the same as mine.

Don't even get me started on microsoft points. The whole "lets sell them in batches that leave extra" can suck my balls

What you just link just proves what I was saying. Those attacks were done through social engineering. In other words they tricked the person into giving up personal information then used that to get what they want. Easy way that could of been prevented is don't be dumb. Check for authenticity etc...

Ps3 network literally got hacked. No need to trick anyone into giving up personal information to get the info they wanted. Xbox live has not. To hack someone on Xbox u need to trick them to giving personal information some how

Xbox live hasn't been hacked (that we can confirm) but if its tied to a windows ID, XBL DOESN'T need to be hacked. Once they get access to the windows ID all they have to do after that do some basic detective work/script kiddy stuff and they can access your XBL account and make purchases in your name with any information they come across.

There are gaps in both systems. I have no problems with the current Xbox system and live. It's the changes coming that I'm worries about.
