So they are saying, 200lbs less and with less brakes/rotors/tires/29 more hp/torque, whoops me. That is strong, I can't wait to see.

Put this in perspective - you could get a fully loaded Z28 with the SS package in 1999 for $27k out the door, with TTL. Almost $20k cheaper than a fully loaded 2016 2SS.

Inflation has not gone up THAT much in 17 years, has it?

Inflation hasn't, but the 2SS is packed with more technology and features than people in 1999 ever dreamed of. That isn't free or cheap.

That's almost 39,000 in today's money.. I think GM packaged the car wrong, but let's be serious here, the 2SS for an extra 3 grand over that inflation price is a lot more car for the money than a 99 SS.

I understand all the "great extras" that come with the gen6, but my budget doesn't. I guess I'll have to wait as well.

What's the famous term on these forums "you pay to play". After seeing these cars in person and talking to the reps, you are getting your moneys worth. Now the real question lies is will the numbers they have out, hold up to the test.

Yeah but now the problem is that Al Oppenheiser kept telling us "look a the Mustang as a reference, Camaro will be very close". He told everyone at the last event that we'd all be "happy" with the pricing.

Right now all I see on this forum is:

And I feel that way too. I figure the 2SS should have a starting price no more than $40k. At $42k you are creeping into many, many options outside of Chevy and General Motors that will give you similar performance and luxury.

Maybe that's GM's intent? Would be nice to hear an official explanation from someone at GM or Chevy, AL!

<~~~~~~ can afford it but refuses to pay that much for a Camaro, as of now I can get any one of (3) 2015 Camaro 1SS coupes for Low $30k range, one is even listed for $28,000 for a 1SS, granted it has zero options except it has an Auto tranny ....

Hmm. $37,295, add on F55...$38,990. I think that will be the cheapest GM car with MRC ever. Add the A8 and you tip to $40,485. Next most affordable vehicle that gets MRC is the Chevy SS.
