I'm glad its working for you. Cobras aren't known for their ability to pick up radar from a distance like Uniden can. They also have been known to pick up lots of false frequencies. I hope it serves you well but be cautious of not what it DOES tell you, but what it DOESN'T.

I am planning on getting a uniden R8 and have been readings lot about radar detectors. Unfortunately I’ve heard sometimes cops keep their device off until they are ready to use it and by then it’s too late.

yeah it is the newer version of the cobra so maybe they improved it. i did not want to spend much on one, i do not speed much, just wanted to know when a cop may be around since they like to target sports cars.
