that's it dkj,
if you have been following Camaro6 (or stalking as some have coined the term for watching and waiting for the day), then you know you've heard from the current BIG dawgs and you can make an informed decision with confidence. I have seen plenty of confirmation that Jannetty Racing is a trusted vendor for 5th as well as 6th generation Camaro's. The gentlemen that have already contributed to this thread have also earned my trust and respect. So, it's up to you but my goodness it sounds as if it would be worth whatever hoops you have to jump through in order to buy a stick car and get it imported. I mean we have "grey market" cars that squeak through after reaching a few years of age and/or update the taillights or changing headlamps. Either way welcome sir and keep us posted with your decision- you may be required to do a "How to" if your choice is the really expen$ive one.

No clue how a stick works as i never drove one. If i was stuck in a car with a stick i would just sit there. I just can't see any fun in having one.

The big thing about driving a manual for most being more involved in the actual driving of the car. You decided when to shift, how smooth or aggressive it is, how long you want to hold the gear out. Its the same concept as self driving cars. The less you need to do the less you're actually driving. The 6th gen camaro is faster in a drag race with an auto. But for me it's a car i want to drive. I want to see how close i can get to auto quarter mile times, i want to be involved in the drive on ever aspect. I want to drive and not be driven. Also manuals are more reliable. |

I drive automatics these days, but I understand where bishopts is coming from, it does remove some of the "hardwired" connection between you and the car. That said, I never enjoyed shifting the car myself that much, except for the 3-2 downshift before a hard turn , and I used to drive much more in heavy traffic than out of it, that's why (after much pondering) I finally ordered my Camaro with the auto trans. Those magnificent WOT upshifts and performance shift mode on my 8L90 make up for the loss, though

This (aka no-lift shift) isn't half bad either

Another thing to consider is that the ability to drive in adverse weather conditions improve with a manual transmission. Your left foot controls the application of torque to the rear wheels. This is a game changer on packed snow/ice and even wet roads. Bumper-to-bumper driving sucks, but you learn to adapt and avoid know problem roads and highways, Philly Schuylkill Expressway, I'm talking about you! The added reliability is a thing as well. I broke a ridiculous number of TH350's and even a TH700R4 back in the day. I never broke a T56 or TR6060 (yet...anyway, there's still time). Got to the point where I could swap a TH350 in a 2nd gen in an hour, of course I was a lot younger and hungrier then. The driving enjoyment factor is real. I couldn't imagine daily driving an automatic. Not enough driver engagement for me. Lastly, this is all very subjective. Everyone is different and everyone's situation is different. I will say that if you have never driven a manual, you should do it just to experience it. You may love it, you may hate it, but you won't know until you try it.
