Chat says its fine.

Short answer: Yes — this is normal for MSD Atomic AirForce manifolds.

✅ What you're seeing in the photos

The images show the interior of an MSD Atomic AirForce LT1 intake manifold, specifically the runner entrances on the plenum side. The rough, uneven, or “stepped” plastic areas, seams, and small flashing marks are very typical for MSD’s rotational-molded composite construction.

Common “weird” things that MSDs have from the factory:

✔️ Visible seam lines where the two mold halves join

✔️ Uneven plastic thickness around the runner openings

✔️ Small leftover molding flash (thin, wispy edges)

✔️ Surface texture inconsistencies inside the plenum

✔️ Rough edges at the runner inlets

MSD molds these in large halves and then bonds them together — they are not CNC-machined, so they always look somewhat “unfinished” on the inside.

️ Performance impact?

None.
This is absolutely normal for MSDs and does not hurt airflow.

Most MSDs look like this, including ones making 700–900+whp in boosted and NA setups.

Some owners lightly smooth the flashing, but it’s not necessary unless something is actually loose.

❗ When to worry

Only if you see:

Pieces of plastic that are loose and could break off, or

A large gap or crack that looks like the manifold actually split, or

Debris left inside (always good to wipe it out)

Your photos do not show anything concerning. The marks look like standard molding seams.

 Conclusion

Yes — this is normal.
This is exactly how MSD Atomic AirForce manifolds typically look out of the box. Install it and send it.

If you'd like, you can send a zoomed-in photo of any spot you’re unsure about and I can confirm.
