I can understand that. Rowing gears was a must for me, but there are times, I wish I had an auto!!!

Maybe we should trade for a day to scratch that itch

Defiantly feels that way... if you could only see all of the behind the scenes! I am getting several emails per week from install shops and other part manufactures on a weekly basis. My dealer program is done, starting to roll out to shops coast to coast now... so you can expect to see alot more GMS products on social media build videos and your local cars and coffee!

One of the great benefits of being in the position I am in now, is the relationship with other "top tier" parts manufacturers. Like many others on this forum, I want to keep the vendor list small, and "top shelf"

If I would not, or do not have to on my car... it will not be on my website.
As for driving my car... perhaps you would be happy to know, I just passed 8,250 miles this last weekend while going on a canyon carving run up Palomar mountain!

But in terms on time, she has defiantly spent more days on jack stands than on the road by far

Thanks, Gabe. Yeah, at this point I'm in it pretty deep, so might as well do everything that would require significant effort/pain later.

You and I both did our builds around the same time.
I have 32k on the stock clutch, and its not been an easy 32k.
I was 720whp for 24k miles, then 840's for the last 8k miles.
i would say 60 passes on the strip, and lots of weekend cruises.
mine still feels good, but I know its going to need replaced at some point.

ummm, maybe time to upgrade.

Hey buddy, I remember your build well! Happy to still see you roaming around! Yours has held up well for sure! I expected mine to last longer, but o-well...

Just responded to your PM with that special discount code. Happy to help you future proof that bad boy

Just ordered the Monster S Triple with Ultra Lightweight Flywheel now that the group buy is over... Not sure if I am going to swap that at home or not, will share photos soon. Anyone else do this on the garage floor? or is doing this on a lift 100% needed?

If you get it high enough and also pick up one of the Harbor Freight trans jacks, I think you could do it on the floor. Wouldn't be the easiest job, but I think it would be doable.

On a related note, when are these babies shipping? I've got a sweet little heads/cam LT4 that's been sitting on an engine stand for far too long.

Thanks Rob, my build schedule is shifting slightly so... I think the clutch will have to wait. I have 4 new products I need to road test ASAP first, so those will take priority... (never a dull moment)

As for the new clutches... I got 5 tracking numbers on Friday, still waiting on 4-5 more... so it looks like yours should be shipping early to middle of next week. I will share ASAP

How do you destroy a clutch in less than 10k miles?

I'm about to turn 60k with mostly track abuse, and my clutch is absolutely fine. I'm confused.

Good question, I'll let you know when I find someone that destroyed there clutch that fast

I am told these clutches don't like 800rwtq with drag radials...
I am also told that the cheap plastic throughout bearing support is a common failure point. My symptoms were a soft clutch pedal, late engagement, and I was able to smell the burnt clutch on several occasions. The clutch never failed, I can still drive it, but it's clear it's time for an upgrade, as I only plan to add more power...

The Description from the Monster website matches what two other shops told me...

Description

It’s no secret that the latest generation of slave cylinders GM has been putting in their performance cars have drawbacks. While the newer slave cylinders did much to alleviate some issues the older units had they actually have a much more severe issue to deal with. Many of the aftermarket companies are blaming the entire bearing assembly for failure. Upon research, we’ve discovered that the bearing itself isn’t the issue it’s the plastic bearing support piece upon which the bearing rides. This piece, when hot enough, disintegrates and causes some pretty catastrophic failures. This not only kills the slave cylinder, it also almost simultaneously kills the clutch in the process. Our billet bearing support eliminates this failure since it replaces the weak plastic piece with our custom piece machined from a solid chunk of USA made 6061T6 aluminum – gone will be the issues of melting plastic when our support is installed.

Are you talkin' drag racing or road course? Different animals with respect to clutch longevity.
