Couple main reasons:

1. We (my brother and I) have a Youtube channel that follows my racing and our general car shenanigans. I love modding cars, and I find it more fun/interesting doing things that maybe haven't been done to the extent that they could be etc. (https://www.youtube.com/@pattyboi)

2. They are hilariously classed in SCCA Time Attack. They are extremely under-classed currently and I intend to take advantage of that next year and go for a national title in SCCA TTT3 (https://timetrials.scca.com/pages/tuner-category).

3. Product Development - The 3.73:1 eLSD can be had for much cheaper than the 3.73:1 mechanical LSD that came in the LT1/SS manual 6.2. I do lots of CANbus reverse engineering for my side job. In fact, I'm likely the most prolific CANbus engineer in the aftermarket space in North America. Haltech, Link ECU, Wiring Specialties, Chavis Performance Engineering (LS Swapped Porsches), Tuning By Nick (K-Swapped Porsches), Kpower etc. are all clients I work with. I plan to investigate using my CAN gateway to install the eLSD in non-eLSD equipped LS/LT/SS/LT1's etc. If it's viable I will sell it as a kit. Could be something cool to look into. I already have GM global B completely reverse engineered.

4. Unless you're dumb like me, or are financially strapped for cash, you're better off getting an SS 1LE for sure. I do think at the ~$15K you can get a 1LS 1LE, they make basically the best current budget track car money can buy. These days, the price of Miata's have blown up so much that they just aren't the budget car they used to be (example, a good used Miata hardtop is $3,000 now). Is the upgrade to the 6.2L worth an extra $20,000? Yes almost guaranteed if you can swing it.

TLDR: Because I'm dumb and want to do something more "unique".

Can bus kill switch might be more profitable than a conversion kit for the differential. I doubt anyone would be willing to swap differentials to go from mechanical to eLSD, just because the cost to gain is not worth it.

Im a big fan of out of the box thinking so i can see where you're coming from. The twin turbo ats-v setup in a camaro would be a pretty easy upgrade to do from the 3.6 cars. And it would more than likely become a better option than a N/A 6.2.

I wouldn't say you're dumb. You would just rather lead instead of follow.
