Before my ZL1 I had a 15' Z/28 mt. In high traffic conditions the mt became somewhat a burden especially during rush hour. I live in a rural area but do a bit of city driving also. I love the 10sp in track mode in the twisties, it is always in the right gear and you can concentrate with two hands on the wheel. Good luck on your decision but, I would recommend you drive an a10 and put it thru it's paces.

Yes. After 6 months I had to sell the automatic and factory order a new manual one. I absolutely hated driving an automatic. My foot keep looking for the clutch every time i started it.

I got a ride in an A10 ZL1 before ordering my Camaro, and I must say it is amazing. The only thing I didn't like was how often it was shifting in around town driving. i went back and forth considering I have other stick shift cars and automatics to drive. This was going to be driven a lot but in the end i took a chance on the M6 and am so happy i did. It is so easy to drive even in NYC traffic, it's really made for people that haven't driven manuals before with hill assist and auto parking brake removal... the only thing i use is rev match which works awesome! Even though my Wife drives my stick shift Trans Am she is afraid to drive this one, which i am fine with. If i die she says she will sell all my cars, trucks and motorcycles and only keep the convertible Vette and Hemi Ram, both auto trans.

My fun cars have always been manuals, even daily's when I was younger. I'm in my 40's now, and thought I was done with manuals when shopping for my current weekend toy.

When initially shopping LT1 Camaros, there was only one available that met my criteria, aside from the fact that it was a manual (I wanted an auto). I decided to test drive it anyway and loved it. I didn't buy the car because, again, I wanted an auto trans. One week later another LT1 Camaro became available with an auto. I test drove it and was underwhelmed; IMO it just wasn't the same experience. I also didn't like the lack of response/delay (IMO) when using the paddle shifters; it didn't feel engaging to me. As a sanity check, I drove straight from the dealer with the auto car to the dealer I visited the previous week to test drive the manual car again, and as they say, the rest is is history (bought the manual car on the spot).

All said, my Camaro isn't my daily. I personally wouldn't buy one as a daily. I also don't think I would buy another manual car as a daily. I would consider an auto weekend toy in the future if it has a DCT, or has a responsive paddle shifting experience.

I decided I wanted a 24 Camaro after orders were closed. I was stuck choosing from inventory. I had several options that were mandatory for my purchase.

Options required by me, manual trans choices got real small. I decided I wanted a 24 more than a manual trans and decided to buy an automatic. I got it and put a few hundred miles on it and my left foot and right hand did not know how to act. I traded it for a manual trans and it cost me dearly for that decision.

In my case, pleasurable driving outweighed the cost! I bought the car for cruising, not as a DD or for racing. Decide what you want the car for and purchase the transmission that satisfies that function.

No regrets but I would go back and go 6M for how I like to drive. The A10 performance is nuts out amazing, manual mode pretty much sucks but it's OK. I was good with the 18 1LE

I do not regret mine with the A10 that being said I have a bad lower back and left leg that pretty much makes it so I can't drive a manual anymore safely. With this car I think the only way I could really get buyers remorse is if I got anything other than a V8.

And a Manual ZL1 is about as much fun as you could have. NLS will help even things out with the autos.

A 1SS or 2SS will dust plenty of automatics using the NLS feature in the hands of a competent driver, a ZL1 even more so.

Manual ZL1 all the way imo.

Definitely a matter of preference, most everyone seems to have covered the bases.

If I was building a quick street car that I was going to race down the 1/4 mile, I think the 10 speed would have been an easy choice. You'll notice a lot of YouTube content guys that do the rolling races will have auto's.

While I would never want a manual for my daily, it was a no brainer for my SS. No cylinder deactivation, more control, and something a lot of people don't mention, better sound characteristics (especially when slowly winding out some gears or those high rpm shifts when you clutch in and hear the revs fall a bit).

I’m daily driving my first automatic. Would love to drive an m6 on occasion. I don’t think it’s worth the loss of a free hand, constant stress on my legs, remote start every morning getting dressed for work, or lighting shifts though. I can start my car from my desk 300 feet away indoors; and hear it too! I also like to use manual mode - hand on the shifter - going to and from red lights because the engine roar makes me smile (I can’t get 3 gears before speeding though lol).

If you drive stick well and enjoy it, you’ll absolutely regret buying an automatic. Even in the worst rush hour traffic for an hour, I’m happy to keep shifting. Although, if you really know your car you can learn how to finesse the throttle on the right gear (first or second) to keep rolling slowly and stay with the fuel of traffic without shifting much or at all, so long as it’s not a dead stop.

I’ve owned nothing g but manuals since 1997. I’ll never go automatic anything. Ever.

100% on the regret on getting the A10.
Had manuals most of my adult life and then the A10 is really fun on the test drive but gets old really quick...

Like many commented here, when I was searching for a M6 LT1, they were all autos and unless you were willing to drop 2SS money + extra options, or get a really bad build (like sunroof, interior stuff, no NPP, small screen... like SS money for a bare bone bad build).

I might get a used manual later on, a well equiped low miles or a nice C7 7 speed.


Note: What kills the M6 compared back to back with the A10 is the diff ratio. The M6 needs a 4.11 or 4 something to be as quick. The A10 in traffic and low gears pulls hard in any situation. I can't complain about that.

I bought a $142k MSRP used 991.2S (used, for $100k). The car was amazing, and every glowing review about 911's written was true. The PDK is by far the best automatic transmission I'd ever driven, I swear it was telepathic in knowing what I wanted to do, in the end it was just too uninvolving to drive after I got over the "I have a new car / it's a 911S!! / this thing is stupid fast". Not to mention having all the weight over the rear tires just made the cars grip way higher than my skill to oversteer through corners, even with Softronic tune to ~520HP.

EDIT: The 911 was also my dream car. I had a poster on my wall when I was a kid of the Yellowbird, and used to dream about owning all the time for the last 35+ years, had subscriptions to R&T, C&D, MT etc and devoured every article about 911s with gusto, but in the end, I think they are pretty much still perfects cars, just wasn't perfect for me. I'm still glad I owned one and fulfilled that dream. Turns out a V8 with a manual is just a better fit for me.

It actually become a bit boring to drive. Which I know sounds crazy... but I sold it after a year for my ZL1, and God willing, I'll never sell this car. It's perfect.

Same thing happened to me when I traded my 911 Carrera for my first muscle car, a '11 Mustang GT 5.0. After feeling the strong push in the back while shifting the stronger V8 and hearing that glorious exhaust sound, I never looked back at my 911, I didn't miss it.
