This thread includes info from GM management on what to expect from this problem-- basically flush ASAP and hope for the best, otherwise you need a new TC.
Also, some info on the fluid chemistry.
The fluid is hygroscopic. The retained water causes burnishing of the TC clutch.

Aww crap, that's the culprit right there. So sorry to hear that

The potential silver lining, though, is that if the service manager is an upstanding person, he should give you a new TC free of charge, and then you won't need to pay for a tune, you can just make sure they use the correct (Mobil1 Synthetic LV) fluid and the trans should be fine going forward.

Yea, don't they give you lifetime warranty on AC Delco service parts installed by the dealer?
