Just a conjecture, but GM may have thought the side skirts on the ZL1 would be sufficient to stop the rocks and only included this with the SS.

Both my 2018 1SS 1LE and 2023 2SS had these cheap, thin vinyl pieces. They were replaced with larger pieces of Xpel when I had the PPF packages applied to both cars. With or without the rocker extensions, the front tires kick a lot of road debris down the sides of the car, all the way to the rear tires.

Thanks everyone. Just for posterity, this one is 2023 2SS Vert. I've also added the GM "splash guards" to possibly protect from rock chips... we shall see.
