If you like it loud you can get a used sound tube and make it louder in the cabin. I don't know why people hate the sound tube or say it's fake. Apparently GM removed it at some point. I'm still thinking on getting a M6 later this year. Do you still have 60k factory warranty even being the 2nd owner? |

Totally off topic, but have you thought about a Diff swap instead of starting with engine mods?
I did some research and since LT1's don't have diff cooling, a 3.27 LSD V6 diff w/o cooling should fit. You get 18% more torque in all gears and 1st gear should be still usable . Other choices like 3.73 is too short and 2.85 is so close to 2.77 that won't be worth it IMO.![]() The torque boost would be equal to 536hp @ 6000rpm (Flywheel). Ofc the modded engine would have a different power curve and etc etc.. Just comparing 1 point. The downside of this is that you loose some top end, you can only go 261 instead of 308 mph

My new A10 2021 LT1 felt 5 times faster than my 2019 C7 with the A8.

Circle on and off ramps on the highway is addicting as heck. Its been 7 years since driving my last fast car but I quickly remembered these cars have absolutely NO practicality for me. It is purely 100% FUN and trouble ![]() Exhaust work and a range will make the driving experience so much better. I'll do the range first. I can already tell when it goes to 4 cylinder mode the exhaust loses its low tone cruising. I like how I can control the gear cruising for fuel economy by upshifting to the highest gear. I'm really hoping this car can be as trouble free as my last cars. I had 3 LS1 Camaros and they were rock solid ![]() Quote:
I actually watched that guy's videos a couple months ago while weighing out what car I should buy. I had no idea about the sound tube then but I can see my car has a plug there. I'll have to look in there more to see if any old parts still exist, or if it was just never installed by GM. I agree with the guy in the vid, it just creates more clutter in the engine bay and with headers, the tube would be worthless to me. I like all the room I can get while working on my cars. I deleted the AC in my last 4thgen for weight and to make room for big trans cooler+a super sucker ram air but this new car I have will keep that stuff. Last car was a little too extreme having the windows down all the time smelling exhaust. I would have a headache after going on hell rides due to the noise It was a love hate thing. At the same time with the AC deleted it made plug changes so much easier ![]() Notice all the extra room in the engine bay? Also LOUD valvetrain! ![]() https://rumble.com/v10vwi3-april-13-2022.html Quote:
![]() That's interesting, and I may look further into this at some point. But the question still seems to remain on what a 3.27 would do to the 1st gear? Well, PSH....No more 308? That's a deal breaker ![]() To be honest though, I'm a high stall torque converter fan. I would probably just do one of those. I know Circle D makes one but finding people who have done a higher stall in the 10L80 seems impossible right now. Yank doesn't even make them ![]() Here's what a Yank SS3600 did for my 4L60 https://rumble.com/v10vxh3-april-13-2022.html https://rumble.com/v10vxrn-april-13-2022.html Quote:
Really? That's good to know! I stayed away from the A8 due to hearing about shudder problems and such. I really hope this 10L80 will prove to be reliable and solid. I know they are having some issues in the trucks with the idler pully. I almost stayed away from this 2022 Camaro for that reason but here I am

I think 3rd gear with 3.27 would be killer with 7.00 final. Little bit shorter than 2nd manual, and between 2nd and 3rd with 2.77. 4th with 3.27 becomes 3rd with 2.77. This is interesting to see, I will create a new topic later to debate it. btw that 4th gen sounds amazing. |

Transmission and gears is one area I haven't looked into a whole lot. I upgraded from the 3.23 gear to 3.73 with the SS3600 stall (later a 4K stall) because I know it's been a staple in many cars with the 4L60. It was a nice addition to the fully built N/A setup I had. Thanks man I miss that car. If I kept it I would of had an LS3 and at least a 12bolt rear installed. It already had the FLT level 4 4L60. 7 years ago I let it go for WAYYY less than what they are going for today. Kicking myself in the ass! I'll be interested to read if you make that thread. There's always something more to learn

I now have a 2015 C7 Z51 A8 that has never been touched and it works like a dream. So beats me why some were bad and a few never had a prob. |

Come on now, the car is very-very practical. I can take my wife out and already have fun on the way. She probably gets bored stiff by me pointing out her separate A/C control, the butt cooler, the handy wireless charger and the ambient RGB footwell lighting to her the umpteenth time... but she always plays along, "they're nice, as long as you like them, A/C is enough for me I don't need anything else" Oh, and I was able to pack 4 max size carry-ons into the trunk, along with a few extra gadgets. Who says this car has no practicality, sheesh

Why put a dual exhaust and headers on a V8 that didn't come with that? Because it is a performance enhancing move to allow a car to breath better and sets you up for other performance mods. Why put in a cam - for performance. Why supercharge, - for performance. The changes in exhaust note, cammed idle sounds, supercharger whine, were incidental to improving performance. Those sounds came to be associated with cars that were set up to run, but IMHO the sounds were secondary effects, the primary purpose was performance. Think about why we like those particular sounds? We associate them with badass cars. Putting a sound tube on a car does nothing for performance, it just makes the car sound 'better' and only to the occupants. But the 'better' sound was originally a marker of performance. So to me, sound tubes are fake because they 'sound like' a modded car with a performance exhaust, but they aren't. If I had one, I would remove it. |
