I like the look of the 1LE's matte black wrap. As you said, its part of the 1LE look. It also saved me the expense of putting Xpel on the hood. When the OE wrap goes bad, I'll have it redone aftermarket.

I wipe it with Meticulous Matte Detailer after I wash.

Thanks. Just ordered a bottle from Amazon. Has pretty good reviews. If the guy in the ad is using it on Lamborghini its should be ok on a 1LE hood wrap (lol).

I tried the adams matte black detailer, but I think the damage was too far gone.

Replacing 1LE Hood Wrap

Long story short. My 2SS 1LE finally came in last week. When they detailed it they used a old brush. Before I left I showed the salesman and told him I would work on it and he said if the marks and scratches don't come out they would take care of it.

Worked on it for several days. Soap and water and Adams Matte Black cleaner. Nothing works. Take it to the dealer today. Manager says they are all like that and they have never seen a perfect one and says its not worth replacing.

He asks me to bring it to service. Meets me back there with service manager. Service manager rubs the marks with his hand says there is a TSB about it. While service manager went to get the TSB, the other manager gets called inside and stated service would help out and leaves.

TSB if a replacement is needed to call 3M and order a new cut to fit hood wrap from GM and have a authorized 3M shop/installer put it on. I have no issues with the dealership or either manager. They were both polite and professional and are doing the right thing.

My concern is getting the new wrap installed. Anybody else go through this. Results good or bad/how long it took/other issues after the replacement. My wife had a 2018 1LE and only had 1 minor blemish in the wrap. Only thing with hers was when the salesman brought it up front for us to leave he pulled up to far and ripped the front splitter off on the parking curb. And yes they replaced it.

Thank you for this! I ordered a bottle and used it yesterday after the first wash, it's super easy and really leaves a nice finish.

Just curious. Was your hood wrap all messed up like mine. Mulltiple discoloration spots, streaks and scratches that looked a bear or cougar scratched it. And darker in certain areas than supposed to be.

Just ordered! I’m hoping it helps my situation….
Got a gnarly scuff mark that won’t come out with auto soap. It happened on track when a big chunk of tire kicked up and hit the hood and windshield. The windshield cleaned right off but not the hood.

I would add that I like the wrap because without it, I’m fairly certain that hit would’ve been paint damage instead.

Never had it done but the business I always use for window tint also has Xpel. When they replace the hood wrap next week can you cover it with Xpel. Also will it change the shade of black of the wrap, I like the OEM look and shade. And what does it cost.

Dealer called and said new wrap was ordered and should bee here on Tuesday. Hopefully replaced next week. They also told me 3M will not remove/replace hood vent heat extractor. Dealer has to remove it, take it to 3M, they put on the new wrap, and back to Dealer for vent reinstall.

Fortunately the hood wrap was perfect and I have no idea how as the paint was all scratched up like it was washed with an old brush.

The paints the easy part to fix IMO and I'm just happy to find a decent product to protect the wrap...and it smelled good too!

Be careful with those cougars in SW Florida, they'll get ya for sure!

I want to clarify that I do not think Meticulous Matte Detailer will correct an abuse wrap. It will prevent water spots (when left to dry outside) and leave a nice finish.

I wipe my 1LE hood and the satin black mirrors and spoiler. Do not put wax or ceramic on any of these.

Did some much needed paint correction yesterday afternoon and used MMD again on the hood, mirrors, and spoiler...so far so good.
