Seems they would be better off just upping the LT1 power and making the current SS-E better
Who says that GM hasn't already played around with a version of the LT2 in the alpha platform? If development of the LT2 started right after the LT1 came out, it would stand to reason that they were planning to put a version of it into Camaro, just like every other base Corvette V8 over the last 40 years.

True but by that reasoning (to me) the 2021 or 2022 would already have the LT2 slated to be put in - like every other over the last 40 years.

Not if they put all future Camaro projects on hold. You know, like they did 2 years ago. Then there was the strike, covid and supplier issues.

As usual, your reasoning seems to lack some pertinent details.

Maybe it is powered by the LT3.
There was an article here a long time ago that said that the 6th gen z/28 was completed but eventually killed 11/2019. That information said it had a high winding version of the truck 6.6. That would obviate issues running a C8 motor.

I noticed last week that a 2019 SS was testing on the Nürburgring with the C8. Maybe they decided that investment was needed afterall.

Great find! This is actually a GM registered Camaro because of the US plates which no would have here in Germany. Also his headlight DRLs are disconnected for who knows why.

I don't know if a DOHC V8 will fit in the Camaro engine bay. None of the engines that the Alpha platform has taken are as wide as a DOHC V8. Just look at how wide Coyote or N63 are compared to the LT1. With the C8's mid-engine layout, it's no issue, but not sure about the Camaro...

As for LT2, weren't there supposedly issues with something like the pedestrian safety regarding how close the intake manifold will be to the hood? AFAIK LT2 and LT1 aren't too different aside from the intake and exhaust manifolds that are specifically designed to work with C8's mid-engine layout.

Potentially a good point. I have heard that the LT5 won't fit in the 6th gen Camaro. I think I read that on here, but I don't know if that is verified information or just rumor.

When Cadillac was developing the Blackwing engine (and before it was axed), were they planning to use it in the CT5? Or was it developed only for CT6? If it fit in the CT5, it would probably fit in the 6th gen.

We did expect that to have been the case for quite a while and were tracking it in our forecast. Then came the Zero/Zero/Zero strategy pivot and we dropped it from our forecast. Even then we still tracked the potential of LT5 falling under the Camaro hood. I got more than definitive denial of that one from people who would know and dropped that from the forecast too.
