They deleted the sound tube for 2020 right? Do you know if the V8 still switches to V4 with the 1LE package?

Nope. My manual on my 2021 SS 1LE says it includes Dot 4 brake fluid. Apparently, at some recently, they made a change.

With LT1 automatics have AFM, manuals do not.

What has become more clear, as factory power has increased by leaps & bounds since say the 80’s, is that people need to understand the torque capacity of the two. For those that don’t know torque capacity for each transmission is inverse. An auto increases by a lower first gear, a manual higher. That’s why we see a huge disparity between 1st gears between the two. To handle 650 ft/lb of torque each transmission needs its own 1st gear. That why the 6spd can run 60mph while the 10spd is more like 20mph (I’m guessing here, but you get the gist) While not researching the 6spd I see the A10 is rated at near 1k lb/ft of torque & I’d surmise the 6spd is similar. That’s a huge feat in non-diesel applications. The necessity for such a low first gear means you need more to fill the gaps up to the .7-.6 OD ratios to prevent huge drops in RPM between shifts. The 10spd is such a sweet spot for staying in the power band it’s not even funny. I gained so much respect the first time I rang one out it’s not even funny. Combined with exquisite programming they are a power transmission instrument that is amazingly phenomenal. |
