Yeah honestly unless my motor needed a replacement, I’d get the “extra cubes” from a PD.
Thanks puddin. If I had unlimited budget I’d go NA 427 just for fun

If my engine was to go again (let's hope not) I'd go back to stock cubes and have Pray spec me a turbo cam and make a call to Huron Speed. The big motor and lumpy cam was fun for the first year but it's starting to get a little old now. Maybe it's just the inner import lover in me trying to call me back to a turbocharged 4/6 cylinder motor.

Off topic Puddin, but how much faith do you have in the grease/air cooled turbo setup from Huron? (Longetivity) The cost to upgrade to oil or water cooled turbos makes the hellion kit more appealing...

About as much faith as any aftermarket part. I don't like the Hellion kit because that's a lot of heat under the hood. Plus it looks like it makes doing routine maintenance a pain in the ass with everything in the way. This is why a 2650 sounds good to me as well. Just throw that bad boy on top and you're good to go for pretty much the life of the car. No need to move anything and can still reach everything.

I love turbos man, they have just been historically the most issue prone and most maintenance demanding forced induction set up I have owned. I've had tons of trouble free miles on top mount blowers and Centri's, but I feel like unless I buy a model that comes factory turbocharged, I am always chasing invisible gremlins.

bear in mind katech is using a proprietary cylinder head that has a minimum $7k entry level price tag.
more cubes does not mean more radical. a small cam, large displacement motor will drive and behave light years better than a small cube, mid-large camshaft motor. it will make more power, generally be more reliable and offer much more low and tq by default.

i think if the goal isnt making 900 hp na, then a 454 is going to cost way too much for the return. if it's choked with a set of ported stock cast cylinder heads, small valves and a small camshaft, i do not see the cost of the short block appealing to anyone. especially when an 8 lb blower setup would essentially do the same thing for probably 1/3 the cost.
id love to see a 13:1 gen v 454 with a cid or fed cyl head on it, large cam and custom intake manifold. it would undoubtably make a shit ton of power, but not near enough after factoring the $35k price tag.

Not really wanting to open another motor. I had a rough year a while back and had to do two full rebuilds from top to bottom. Honestly tired of spending money on this car as I'm wanting to spend more time on my other hobbies. If something major was to happen I'd probably put it back to a stock long block and sell it and move to a different platform.
