Didn't it come with the black gaskets? Oh, it must have been a used one then.

FYI the OEM gasket isn't the usual 3M double sided tape, it feels more like a butyl strip stencil, see here: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/33357849

The tape may hold up, too, but I think the main problem is with gaps, unless you get a very wide spool that you're able to cut to the exact stanchion footprint.

Thank you guys for the comments and advice the car wasn’t Involve in any flooding or anything like that I believe the sunroof might’ve been the reason why water got in the trunk in the first place

Yeah, I'm interested how this all panned out. And what it's going to cost me.

I though I had a dead battery and when jumping it fried an ignition relay or something but after getting in the trunk to pull the battery I found 2 inches of water in the trunk that has been sitting there for about 2-3 weeks while it waited for me to get to it.

Daily drove the car in these California storms recently and let it sit outside in the rain, thinking it shouldn't have an issue. It's not like it flooded near me, just heavy rain and driving in very light rain to and from work(15 mile round trip).

If you're out of warranty then it's gonna be a pretty penny. Most likely start by disconnecting the battery and then removing all connections and modules there. Check for corrosion or shorts throughout.

You've got the full arsenal of electronics back there (fuse box, magnetic ride controller, Bose amp) so you'll have to check all of them. If something's shorted then it'll have to be replaced with the same part number. I'm unsure if the MRC controller can be swapped or needs some special procedure but the fuse box and amp should be a direct swap. If the wiring harness is damaged by corrosion and can't be cleaned thoroughly then it would have to be replaced as well at the least I imagine.

Looks like there's enough threads on attaching stud's of components to raise them up to have a thread or 2 showing above the nut. Then stake the last thread . Would buy time if water intrusion, I bet most damage if enough water comes from sloshing around. To elevate slosh condition , small wash towels can be placed in the trunk around fuse box and a few others to stop sloshing in the trunk well. Also at least for the fuse box lift off studs shrink wrap box with seams on top, Mag ride module maybe able to do same, if dosnt generate heat , Amp most likely to hot with the cooling fins to wrap . Then at least if the trunk decides to leak , would buy time and good chance of saving components , and with a visual check every couple days .
Most of us know it could happen, and now will check the trunk well . I would do this if my Camaro was a Daily Driver , and or in wet weather . Arizona here , I was just analyzing the situation.retired TE

Sorry to see this! We had a day of some really intense rain in my area and once the sun came out it seemed like just about every car in the neighborhood, new or old, had windows fogging up from moisture that got inside. Fortunately I was able to keep my sixth gen garaged for that.

Any ideas on how the water managed to get in there? My Camaro does regular commuter duties so this sort of incident is concerning.

Yeah, pulled the battery, unplugged everything and pulled most things out and they are soaked. The fusebox, JB1 Connector, JB2 Connector are completely burned up, the JB1 actually melted itself to the fusebox.

The MRC was completely soaked and dripping water out when I pulled it out, but I don't even know if was even being used because this car is a 2018 ZLE so it doesn't have mag ride, rather the Multimatic DSSV shocks.

I'm trying to see if it's possible to get the truck harness by itself or if I need to buy an entire harness. I think it may have a connecting point with the main harness but haven't pulled the plastic cover off the junction point which is right where the trunk and back seat meet.

Fuse box looks easier to get. Need to test the BOSE amp, MRC still.

Yeah, I'll probably make those changes now.

Yeah, the rain wasn't even that bad but definitely implementing some changes after this ordeal.

No clue, everything in the trunk was completely dry. My guess without investigation is the the seal on the trunk as it's not in the garage often and now five years old so that plus more than usual rain was just a perfect storm. I'll keep you posted.

It is strange to me if they left the MRC controller when it has DSSVs. Wonder, why they left, is, it has no use since there are no readings like MRC and the car can't change suspension like MRC.

Unfortunately, it looks like it's all a part of one big harness spanning the front and rear of the car. IMO the easiest route would be finding a junk car and snipping the connectors and a bit of wiring from them. The downside is since you have a ZLE, it may be only ZLEs that have the exact same cable layout since it technically has all the wires minus MRC.

If you haven't already, searching "ZL1 Body Wiring Harness" pulls up a listing for the entire thing but would have to double check it's from the right car. Plus the factor of it being M6 or A10 or if that even matters, I'd still lean towards the option of snipping the needed connector/wiring from a junk car unless you want to tear apart the entire interior or buy that entire harness and snip off that.

Yeah, I've found a ZLE complete harness for a decent price so might do that but I'll swing by the dealership this week to see what I can get at cost or at at least cheaper because I have a dealership. If not, I think I've sourced a complete harness for my exact year and trim.

Found out the MRC still control driving modes for steering, active exhaust and throttle response. So I'll need one of those too.

Wish me luck, haha.

Had same issue. Trunk spill caused short in trunk fuse box. I need to replace connectors 13594678 and 13594679 and have ordered new fuse box. Gonna have to replace a few pins. Can someone tell me the part numbers for the terminal pins or a source? Thanks in advance!

I had a customer a while ago with a similar situation on a chevy cruze. She has a laundry soap container spill in the trunk and it and directly into the fusebox and fuel pump control module. But we're destroyed but i was able to just clean the connectors out with no problems. Just used water and blew it out with air, added dielectric grease and she comes back for oil changes every now and then.
