love the m6, drove an A10 and was unimpressed with the automatic.. very laggy. if it was a DCT then that would of been better.

For me its the M6, I have a ZLE and a Z06 and both are a M6. Im not looking to drag race, its more about the driving experience. If my purpose was to race everyone at stop lights I would get the A10.

The A10 shifts are the opposite of laggy. No idea what car you were driving.

OP - if you enjoy a manual, the ZL1 is a hoot with the M6.

My ZLE 6m is a toy. One the street, especially, I think the manual is more fun. I am not really ever going to drive it in crazy traffic, and if it happens now and then, its not a big deal. Agree also on the downshift rev matching. This is a lot of fun. I know this is becoming less popular of an opinion, but to me, if you are not into drag racing, if you just want a fun car, manual is the only way to go.. Would like to get an auto CTS V someday though as a daily. |

M6 all the way for me too. If this car was only available in auto I would not have bought one.

I will just mention some negatives here
Throttle/clutch modulation always felt very weird and I was never consistent in slow take off. With a 103TB & tune it now drives very consistent and is much more easier at take off. A quick 4-5 shift needs more concentration or I tend to miss shift Everything else is really good

Love the M6 in my ZL1
It was the main reason I purchased this car... Most of my vehicle have all been M cars... when possible. My GTS is auto DCT and I love how it works but an M would have been super cool.. Overall the ZL1 with an M is just perfect. You decide when to shift and you control how the power gets put down. You just drive the car.

The M6 is a dream. TR6060 calibrated to perfection in our cars. Deliberate placement of gears.
Couldn't own my ZLE without it. #savethemanuals

Drove an M6 ZL1 12k mostly hwy miles over 2 years during good weather. Absolutely loved it, manual isn’t for everyone but it’s exactly right for me in muscle/pony cars.

A GREAT driver will be fastest with everything FULL off, but a very good driver will be at higher risk of dangerous loss of control at high speed--this car will bite you. PTM in Race mode makes it possible to go full throttle right after the apex coming out of turns, and achieve very fast lap times. With PTM Race done right, I find I can stay in 2nd and achieve a near perfect max-acceleration corner exit that good drivers in high HP RWD non-PTM cars cannot achieve consistently. They're working hard to control wheel spin and oversteer, while you pull away. It's a real advantage. |

M6 is really good in the ZL1: great performance, fun to drive, happy with SC engine. I do not daily drive (DD) mine. I have owned multiple AT performance cars and in many situations, the tranny just isn’t in the optimal gear. The engineers can’t design for/cover every possible set of conditions. I’m not a great driver, but I do know what’s coming up next and can control the tranny gear selection. If I had to DD a ZL1 in traffic, I’d opt for the A10. Manual sports cars are just flat out fun to drive!!
