The airflow difference is not nearly enough to cause any temporary problem. I’d give your MAF a good cleaning with MAF cleaner, I bet oil on the MAF is the problem.

Hi everyone. I know this may sound weird but my car just seems sluggish after installed a k&n filter in the stock air box a couple of days ago. It feels my car isn't revving as fast as it did before replacing (not as good of throttle response even if reving in neutral (6sp manual), and kind of..choppy...

Side notes - I keep my car in sport mode 24/7.

Always use 93 octane.

Am I missing something? Or should I go back to stock? I do love the sound of the k&n in there but not if it's going to make my car feel sluggish. Hmm.
Huh…, I just changed out all 3 fluids and replaced my OEM filter with a K&N drop in. No issues at all, runs even better than before. Especially noticeable 3rd gear and up. Rev’s slightly quicker, maybe your filter had too much oil as others stated. Take the filter off, and wrap it with newspaper, or some paper towels for about 24. Disconnect battery. Clean your MAF, with MAF cleaner. Then try again.

I have the same setup, runs great and no issue.

Thank you for that clarification. So far I returned back to the stock air filter (which is still brand new to the car as of about 3 weeks ago when I bought it) , cleaned the MAF and the car is running like new again.

It seems that the filter came from the factory with WAY to much oil on it, and it gunked up my MAF sensor. That kind of put a bad taste in my mouth now for K&N but will stick with this for now unless I decide to go a CAI route down the road. The way it's setup now is pretty much like a CAI so I may just leave it as is lol. Still contemplating.
