Hell no. One more step towards a full ev automotive fleet leading to autonomous, ie, no freedom autos.

"Falling behind", as you put it, is still preferable to having to live with a change that takes something of value to you out of your driving.

Nothing wrong with wanting to hold onto old technology... but time doesn't stop for any of us. As far as taking something of value, there are tons of examples the most prominent to me is reading an actual book. Holding a book is much more an enjoyable experience then reading off a kindle or other ebook device but books are slowly fading away. I can buy a hardcover new release for $28 or the same thing in e format for $17. I still buy the hardcovers but those prices will keep going up as demand drops and people buy the cheaper option. Pretty soon, finding a company to produce an actual book will be near impossible. Publishing companies are fading away and becoming e-publishers.

If you haven't seen the Formula E series check it out. The current Gen2 cars they are using have McLaren motors with a current top speed of 174mph. Next Gen batteries will increase power again next year or 2022, whenever they come out. BMW, Audi, Nissan are all involved along with names like Andretti, Penske and Renault.

I am not saying I am giving up on my 2019 Camaro. But when the time comes and there is the option for an electric version, I will be there. I'd rather have the Camaro version than that crossover mustang thing they are building.

im wondering why hydrogen powered engines arent being further explored.we have 200+semis at the company i work for that are currently hydrogen powered.fill it up like a regular vehicle and drive it.no need for a huge heavy battery pack and the attendant recycling problems down the road.they produce water vapor as an emission.

I have a few friends with Mirai's, i just don't think we have a very extensive hydrogen infrastructure here.

Yes. I'm all for the electrification of vehicles. Sure, the sound that cars make and the engagement of the manual transmission is fun but, it isn't the epitome of performance. I, for one, chase performance and I embrace the onset of electric power in future vehicles.

It is only a matter of time, electric or some other technology will replace the Hydrocarbon fueled ICE.

The alternative fuel technology will keep getting better and better while investing in improving the status quo will have diminishing returns

It is really just economics, todays cars will eventually become just like the dinosaurs that their fuel is made from

Isn't that just another example of other people en masse essentially trying to make your decisions for you? Deciding that since they like a particular change (something that obviously suits them for their reasons) that you're supposed to like it as well (still for their reasons).

Personally, I find reading even magazine articles and columns on a 17" laptop to be difficult and certainly less pleasant than reading them in print. While some of the annoyance is in the advertising . . . I suspect if you're not already getting ads now with Kindle and such, the time will come when you will.

I've only watched brief clips, but formula racing whether EV or ICE is really a different situation from choosing a car for street driving and HPDE. Unless you're actually racing, the primary emphasis is really on enjoying the drive and making yourself better as a driver. Not so much about beating the other guy.

Fine by me, but I know that for me an electric Mustang, Camaro, or WRX would be too many steps back in exchange for the one step forward that means the least. I was fine with the tire progression from bias-ply to bias-belted to radial to low-profile radial. More than fine going from carburetors, points, and condensers to EFI. But those evolutions didn't take any of the subjective content out of driving like electric drive would, or like automatic transmissions arguably have already.

It makes me think EV’s are currently stuck as straight line wonders. The current Camaro is a great track day machine. Something you can drive to the track, drive in anger for 1hour + and drive home, that’s why I bought it. I hope the next Camaro EV or not retains that focus. While I love the sensory experience an internal combustion engine provides, I can see some interesting advantages of a EV track car: No possible oil starvation from using slicks, and the safety of no oil or coolant to slide on.(well assuming everyone is in an EV of course).
