The seat is probably mounted higher in the Equinox, which allows more airflow.

It's really anemic when the seat is close to all the way down (I'm 6'2") with the floor duct closed. I'll try to adjust my normal seating position seat a bit upwards to see how much that helps.

That said, while seat ventilation hardly feels like being blasted by a giant steel mill fan, it's still a million times better than keeping it off, I tested this many times in 85-95 degree weather.

There will always be edge-dwellers on the bell curve!

I think this system works, but clearly performs better in spring/fall compared to summer. I think it just comes down to the physics: relatively weak fans pushing air through channels in the seat foam and perforations in the covering. The foam, seat coverings, and air under the seat all get to heat up on a sunny day. Then you sit down, block/squash the air channels, and fire up the ventilators. I do this every day at 3:30 pm and the seat definitely gets warmer before it gets cooler!

So...no new ideas for how to make it work better?

Where are all you engineers?

I'm guessing most folks are not satisfied with stock functionality.

Help!

I wish I had known it doesn't work very well before I put the gen5diy harness in. I would have made an attempt for improvement. Seems like they need different fans that can provide higher static pressure. The one for the bottom is easy to get to, but the one for the back is buried in the back of the seat so not easy to get to.

First, I think there is an old thread on this topic. I will post stuff from the repair manual when back at my regular pc. What I seem to remember is that the circuit is voltage limited and the speeds controlled by PWM.

Yes, the fans have built in controllers. They take in power, ground and a control signal. The BCM sends a PWM signal to set the fan speed. It would be unlikely you could boost the voltage much without damaging the built in controller.

Yes exactly, if your seat has been heated up in the sun you are absolutely not even going to be able to feel anything. I feel like the only time I even ever can barely feel mine working is when the interior is already cool at night.

I agree with everyone else too, sometimes you can barely feel the airflow if you touch it with your hand. I want to say its because, like others said, your body pushing down and blocking the airflow, but then sometimes you can feel it even with body weight on it? Either way this is very serious and we need to come up with a solution since this is 100% the poorest performing thing on the car.

I have a 2018 2 LT and when I first tried the ventilated seat I couldn't feel it. But it seems like if I turn it down to 2 or 1 I can feel it.
The other thing is I have setting that says the ventilated seats should turn on when it is hot enough when you remote start the car. That never works.

I have this setting enabled too. I think it does work when remote starting, but note that the fans turn off as soon as you push the ignition button. So if you want seat ventilation (or heating) to CONTINUE after pushing the start/ignition button, you need to select the setting again on the dash.

To test this, after remote-starting your car, sit inside for a moment BEFORE touching the start button and listen for the fan under the seat. Then push the start button and notice that it turns off.

My driver ventilated seat works great...when the outside temps are below about 65°F. From 65°-75°F, I can barely feel the cooling effect. Anything above 75°F, and it's pretty useless, even when the AC is on full blast. Can't comment on the passenger seat.

The vented seats in mine work best for humidity. My back gets sweaty with it off, but on it doesn't.
