I'm going with the loose catch can lines. These engines have a fair amount of blow by (crankcase pressure) when operating at WOT (especially if its a long pull). Those lines vent the crankcase thus giving the blow by a place to escape.

My last Camaro while on the dyno after a cam install blew the dipstick out just before redline and blew oil vapor everywhere. Made a real mess and scared me! The shop tech did not have the dipstick seated all the way after he topped off the fluids just before the dyno run. The car ran great after that and never used oil between changes but it taught me firsthand that these engines create significant crankcase pressure at WOT.

It was probably something to do with the oil catch can lines. And you already corrected this issue. I would use engine degreaser rather than brake cleaner on the engine though.

Take the car to a track where it is safe and open it up again and see if the issue repeats. If not, you corrected it.

Brake cleaner is an excellent cleaner / solvent and won’t harm anything. I keep a can or 2 handy at all times for just this purpose

Doing 140 on public roads is not smart, that is what track days are for

I know someone... who's only gotten up to 138. There is NOwhere to hit time-travel speeds in the Minneapolis metro area. :P

Same thing happened to me a few months ago in my C7. Greg called it. I folded up my crank seal. That was a good time. If you are not boosted likely not the issue and had something to do with catch can. Drive down to Mexico and get on it again and see if you still have the issue. Check around the crank seal.

140 is nothing

I’d attempt it myself if I had the funding and a team of spotters.
Sorry, I recall street racing posts were not allowed and usually taken down for Camaro5/6.

Who’s this Karen girl? I think I like her. Honestly, the speed wasn’t even needed in the post as it is somewhat irrelevant. Leaving out the 140mph and simply saying “during a hard pull...(insert rest of story here).” Or, for the sake of not promoting illegal speeding on public roads, the OP could have lied and said it happened during a track time event. Seems the OP just wanted to let everyone know that they were driving 140mph. Why? Idk. And, yes, it is promoting illegal driving and doesn’t belong on the forum.

I would say the catch can is the issue. Glad you caught it. There is a good amount of pressure in there.
