According to my 19 brochure, ZL1 A10 Coupe will do 198 MPH while ZL1 1LE M6 will do 191 MPH.

If you are going downhill, you might be able to break 200 MPH.

C7 Corvette Z51 M7 will do 300+ MPH if you are just talking about gear ratios.

Realistically, drag will kick in long before that as it increases exponentially with speed.

I would be surprised if the ZL1 has any useful acceleration beyond the 7th gear.

Fastest I've been was an indicated 165 in a DeTomaso Pantera with a moderately warmed over 351 Cleveland. I'm sure I can better that pretty handily in my Camaro. Need to head to Mexico or a 1/2 mile event.
My buddy and I bought & flipped that Pantera back in the early '80's. He got caught running 156 by the Louisiana State police. They threw him in jail and impounded the car. At least the officers had a sense of humor about it; when they pulled him over, the cop said "congratulations, sir. You have have just broken the Louisiana land speed record"! 156 was fast as shit back then

279? Hold on, mechanical gearing is one thing, but don't forget about drag.

It has been mentioned that the regular ZL1 Coupe with A10 was tested at 202mph/194mph for a two-way average of 198mph. This would be done in 8th gear.

The regular ZL1 Coupe with M6 has an issue, namely, the possibly-EPA-oriented 6th gear drops the rpm too far, so it reaches top speed in 5th gear. This has been seen in multiple videos.

As far as the ZL1/1LE model, the M6 has a better 6th gear (but worse aero) than the base car. There was a video posted where an M6 in a distance of 2.7 miles did 178.387 mph. The A10 probably does not make much difference in this model, because at the speed the video car reached, 7th gear would redline, and 8th gear would be at a lower rpm than that M6 was in 6th gear.

not only drag, but you better be *very* confident in your tires if you ever want to try the exciting side of 180.

regardless of if the car can do it, can the tires? (I'm sure stock ones can handle it, but not at typical pressure), and how much does that change once they start wearing? There are many factors you should take into account if this is on anyones mind.

nobody wants a blowout at those speeds.

looking back at when I went that fast, on tires that may not be rated for it, I was dumb, pure and simple.

I got my M6 ZL1 1LE up to 285 km/h before I let off because of running out of road. Which is about 177mph, on the stock 3Rs

how did it feel at that speed? was it struggling because of aero?

if you had to guess, what distance did it take to get there?

It felt fine, I’d guess the road is about 2.5km (1.5miles) long but I wasn’t going 100% from the very start of it. My girlfriend was freaking out though

but back in the day, I was only vaguely familiar with tire ratings and just the plethora of things that can go wrong at those speeds that cause you to become 7 different flavors of liquid.

honestly, as long as my car throws me back into the seat like I owe it money, I'm good.

The speed rating of a tire are ran in 10 minute increments, So if your tires are in good shape, 186 mph if you can reach it should be fine for a a couple of minutes ! Land speed or Mexico racing !

Hennessy did not use 6th. The car will continue to accelerate in 6th. Several videos on youtube where you can see the car accelerate in 6th. The c8 vette wont run 200 either with better aeros. My .02

Flowtie1: Where are the videos of pulling 6th gear on a standard stock ZL1? Gearing in 6th is not for top speed on this model. 175 mph is it in 5th.

Are these videos of base ZL1 M6 cars, not ZL1/1LE models? Because I have seen another video (not talking the Hennessy one) of a base M6 ZL1 where they ran it up in 5th then shifted to 6th. The car did not accelerate in 6th gear and it's pretty apparent as to why, the rpm dropped significantly when he went to 6th. Fell off the power curve too far, tach was just over 4000rpm in 6th. Car ended up going faster by shifting back into 5th gear and just winding it out above redline on the tach, he got 175 indicated that way.
