if your going to do it buy quality tools $2k and a factory shop manual. Dont read magazines because they always leave out important stuff or the screw it up. the engine should be taken out for the cam. you can do it in the car but. Id say unless you can afford to screw it up this isnt really a non mechanic job. it not that hard of a job just very time consuming and no short cuts. you need to know exactly how to do it. if you have some one else do it make sure they are a GM performance shop. if they dont specialize in modern Camaro/Corvette pass on them and go to some one who does. You dont need to be there guinea pig.

Agreed, especially if your working with high pressure fuel pumps. You shouldnt just remove the fuse and expect it to depressurize immediately. You may need GM diag software and you can turn it off through there. At least in my days of working at dealerships, we had to do that in acuras. Plus you have to get specs on tolerances to the valve buckets, set cylinder 1 to TDC (top dead center), etc. Not a task if your not experienced with modern vehicles with lots of sensors and connectors.

You answered your own question. You have never done any engine work. Leave it to the professionals. You can start to learn about mechanics, just start on a smaller scale. Most self made mechanics do just that.

This guy has to be a troll, if not please video and post this train wreck daily OP. On the off chance this is legit, I worked as a tech at a car dealer and we always had a couple of vehicles a year show up with a trunk/cargo area covered engine parts in boxes. It ended up costing them a "lot" more than if they just brought it in in the first place and they were happy to pay it.

Don't do it unless you have unlimited funds and someone who does engine rebuilding with you . Seems you want to go at it yourself though. If you're willing to make major mistakes, which you will and have money to back it up by all means knock yourself out.
