This has been asked in multiple threads. No one really knows what it is. There are no hard facts or proof to say what it is. We all get it on our 6 gens. That makes me feel a little better. Wish it wasn't happening at all but since its happening to everyone's cars, seems like its nothing to worry about except cleaning it.

That's just air pollution. Usually comes from old smoke stacks. Something is releasing that into the atmosphere and people are also breathing it in.

I don't get this on my car and I've never seen anything like that. The placement of it particulary the door jams makes me think it's something environment or off the road. Even the heavy dusting OE BRembo pads don't make that level of debris.

I don't know if the ones that are saying they don't get the soot are looking at the back bumper above the exhaust and wiping your finger across the bumper. Numerous threads on this subject before not one person said they don't. Maybe the issue magically went away as Trump says lol. Seriously though a lot of us are seeing this soot or whatever it is. Glad you aren't.

I've ran my finger and except for dust, I don't get anything black, except on the exhaust tips.

Sound like some logical suggestions for the dust. My opinion, a quart of oil every 1500-2000 miles is VERY excessive! You probably have a lot more soot on the back from that then those of us that dont burn oil. My 2011 2SS was traded in with 100,000 miles and never burned any. Seriously, it was my daily driver and I never added oil once between oil changes. Id get a new dealer.

Time will tell on this one, i havent had an oil change yet.

I drive my car pretty hard. They go off of GM specification which says 1 quart every 1000 miles is reasonable if driven normal and 1 quart every 500 miles for aggressive drivers which they classify me as after running my ecu.

Of course they do! There is nothing reasonable about adding a quart of oil every 1000 miles and it is just plain unacceptable at 500 miles on a $50k-$70k car! You need to be escalating that to GM. Its not rocket science. There are a hand full of items that cause oil burn, all should be covered under if within powertrain warranty. They need to troubleshoot it and tell you what it is then explain why its not covered. Using the "drive it and we'll measure it" is a shell game. Can you think of any other squawks you would accept that answer on? Brakes, steering, transmission...hell no. But its ok on the engine? In less than 2 hours they can tell you what cyl it is.
