Was planning a V8 conversion in 1980 when it was totaled in a rear end accident. Oh the old days!
LT4Greg- LOL regarding the Vega- I got 86,000 miles out of my Vega. It was still running when I traded it in. I always carried two quarts of oil with me. I used to go to the gas station and say fill her up with oil and check the gas.. no joke. If they had gotten that engine right Chevy would have had quite a car.

When I traded her in, the salesman laughed at me. They were amazed I was able to get that many miles out of it.

Yeah.... but I mean.... really?
I see your point here and I appreciate and your reply.

Would be kinda fun having either as your QB ;-)

None of these cars make any sense financially or from a practicality point of view.

if you like spirited driving reward yourself with a 1le even if you must go a 1ss 1le.

My 2 cents... get the 2SS 1LE and never look back. The price difference isn't going to break the bank and you'll get everything you could want in a package that will give you a permanent grin every time you take it for a drive.

I bought my 1SS 1LE after my buddy picked one up. Never gave the Camaro's a serious thought because I always had a Corvette of one model or another in the garage. He kept raving on and on about his 1LE and I thought, OK, I need to try one of these out and see what all the hype is.. Test drove one at the dealership and it left with me that afternoon! They truly are a bargain for what you get in it and the way it handles.

2SS 1LE and you won't regret it.

This was kind of my experience as well. Mind you I had a 17 grandsport at the time, but it cost a hell of a lot more than the 38k the ss 1le cost me.

AFAIK, the MR shocks themselves are the same. Suspension arms and geometry are the same, and all Camaro's have the strut tower to body links. Pretty sure the cradle and suspension bushings are the same as well.

Actually - the clutch is the same, GM only has one clutch for all the LT1 engines across all platforms, and one for the LT4 (the LT4 has a heavier pressure plate)

If you want a performance drive, the 1LE is not just good, it where it excels. I mean, it is the example of the class for the domestics, and it is on par with just about any offering in the European builders in a RWD offering.
Air ducting for the brakes comes standard on the SS. The additional Brake air diverters for track use is also part of the SS package.

THIS!!!

Those that reply saying you will only use 30% of what a 1LE is on the street do not push their cars hard.

I am a performance guy and after my horrible experiences and disappointment in my previous M3, I wanted a proper track focused car where everything works in harmony, that my friend is the SS 1LE. I do not track, but I love canyon roads, mountain roads, switch backs and on/off ramps. I use 100% of what the 1LE offers, not all the time, but definitely in select spots.

The 2SS 1LE is the perfect balance.

If you are a performance oriented guy, like it sounds like you are, there is no other option you should choose other than the SS 1LE, unless you wanted to step into the big dog ZLE, but that is definitely not a perfect balance car, that is a TRACK FIRST, DAMN THE REST car.

Understand the price difference in-between is $3500, and for that amount you get dual climate control, heated and cooled seats, and lane assist. The 1SS1LE is kind of like a SS1.75 vs the 1SS

You can even upgrade the 1SS1LE seat to cooling for $150 for a simple wiring kit as the 1SS1LE seat and the 2SS1LE seat are the same Racero. They come with the fans, plumbing and wiring already.

It's $5k difference between a 1SS 1LE and a 2SS 1LE with the same options.

Is this because you got a really early production date 2018? I do agree with most others on it. Tough to go wrong with a 2SS 1LE & get the best of both worlds. I had planned on a new 1SS 1LE & found a deal I couldn’t pass up on with my car... now that I have the extra stuff I wouldn’t want to go without it.

2SS all the way if you're not tracking the car. I track my 2ss every chance I get. I do have 1LE brakes and tires, which you can add to the 2SS if you wish. You could add all 1LE equipment except the elsd to the 2ss for less than the cost of the 1LE package and still have all the creature comforts of the 2SS. If price is no object it's hard to argue against the 2SS 1LE.
