Since you seem doubtful that you really need it...


Assuming you park your car in the same place every night, just take a picture of the dipstick every Saturday morning for a few weeks. If you are losing oil at a significant rate you will be able to tell, and all the photos will be time-stamped for comparison.


I have an SS and just changed oil last weekend. I lost about 1/4 qt in a year. Every engine will have different oil consumption, but 1/2 qt or less at each oil change is pretty typical for my last 10 cars.
