A tune cannot do everything a TC can do:

1) A tune will give you a single response level vs. 37 levels for the TC.

2) If you want to change the tune level you'll need to re-tune vs. pushing button on the go on your TC.

3) Your ECM will be reflashed once every time you tune vs. none w/ a TC. Whether the dealer looks at that or not is another matter. But that is something they are likely to look at especially if it is a big claim.

quick question... If the handheld selector comes lose and/or is unplugged from the lightning connector, will the vehicle return to "stock" throttle response?

If so once this data is in there, there's no turning back. If you need warranty work Chevy will check this and see the records. Given the kind of damage a bad tune can do like cracking or melting pistons and breaking rods, or even a good tune making too much power for the stock parts, I think a tune is one of the mods GM hates the most.

No, the car will go into limp mode if the ignition is on or while the ETC system is energized.
