SCCA Time Trial S1 Class Mods:
1. 200TW Tire limit, new set of wheels and 305 square Protenza RE71R's.
2. Rotofab intake
3. Castrol SRF Brake Fluid
4. Track Alignment
5. You can do a tune and cat back exhaust, but the 20 HP isn't worth a certain power train warranty void.

Global Time Attack will force you to run a 285 tire or bump you up against highly prepped cars (from my limited reading of the classing). I don't run in the series, so others might be able to clarify.

I am not sticking to any one class with the car. I have been in competing in GTA, Gridlife for a few years now and will be building the aero of the car to Street Modified rules, which is pretty generous. The class it runs will be based on the tires I want to use. I ran my almost stock C7 in T1 at SCCA TT Nats and came second only to a pro driver in a SS 1LE. Im not too worried about SCCA classes, those are just fun events to get track time.

Tire rules have no loopholes regarding width, I ran 285s square on my C7 and run 255s in my Evo per the rules. This car will be no different. I plan on running OEM tires, 285 200TW tires as well as 200TW tires on OEM sized wheels. I want to jump around with different classes and different cars. I also will be competing in my 370Z nismo that has all driver aids removed.

All in all not really building a specific classed car yet... just building the ZLE I want.

I agree there are better mods to spend money on... which I am doing lol just waiting on them to be delivered.

I have wheels on the way along with some aero and working on weight saving items with some companies. I only purchased the car a month ago and there's a lot of time between now and my first event in May.

Would rethink that one or get ready to add a rear diffuser.
Weight reduction was also a factor, and who says a rear diffuser isn't in the works

Let me know what you find for weight reduction, other than the easy stuff. been trying to think of what I can do as well.

Weight reduction on muffler was about 15lbs. Hopefully a battery will have similar results. I never found much reduction on my C7 and do not have much hope for this chassis. but I'll try!

watch the rear bearing assemblies as the bolts there have a tendency to loosen...easy to check by grabbing the rear wheel once jacked

Not downplaying anything at all especially since Tom O is an excellent pro driver, but I'd like to point out that his car is a regular SS A8 that's obviously highly modified.

Thought it was a 1LE, either way highly modified and makes crazy power. Obviously he is also a wayyyy better at driving than myself. Never stood a chance.

Point was that due to SCCA rules something small like headers can put you into a tuner class when the rest of the car is stock is the reason I'm not building my ZLE to SCCA rules.

I have noticed slippage when I had a few alignments on the bolts and at Laguna Seca. I stopped going there as often, so perhaps that's why I haven't seen as much slippage. Car is a bit better with newer bolts and proper torque. It always seemed like it was the front toe that would slip, though.

Yeah the SCCA TT class rules need modified. They weren't even enforcing their rules at Pitt Race last year unless someone protested.

From what I have heard and seen, that is normal. Same thing within our Regional SCCA TT.

Did just purchase APR GTC-300 wing with new and improved mounts that eliminate trunk bending.

Good times for T1 in a stock C7. I was there as well. It looks like I ran about a second slower in total time in my S1 Camaro ZL1. I was still learning the track and realistically have 2 seconds plus to gain. Traffic was a bitch in my run group with some guy in a Porsche doing slow out and 1st laps.

I'm planning on doing the S1 allowed mods, minus cat-back (as others have stated) and minus tune.

I was 7th fastest overall (1st in S1) at Carolina Motorsports Park during the Time Trial National Tour and have recently run considerably faster there on the RE71R's.

Look for me next year at Nats. It would be great to say hello.
