He didn't mis-quote you, nor did he mistakenly quote you... he mentioned the test, that you mentioned to counter the guys comments about lessening the abilities of the mighty "Z" whatever that means.... and he quoted you as saying 100-0.... It is justifiable to quote others, we even have a button for that... You implied a test was needed, and he was implying you were free to do so to prove a known point... And yes, that is a great thing to know, but not something he needs to verify in his own mind.... You guys are saying the same thing, just from different perspectives...

I know, I know.... 15 or so years stuck at one fire station where that’s all we had.... I got tired of steak, and more so steak that got rarer and rarer with every meal..... So, I no longer eat it, and if I do, I burn the hell out of it... and then drown it in ketchup...

I have the powerstops. I couldn't deal with the dust from the OE pads. I occasionally track my car and they're certainly not as good as the OE pads, but there's definitely nothing wrong with them. I'll trade a couple seconds off my lap time to not have to deal with cleaning the wheels every other day, but everybody's needs are different.

Update, New Brake Pads
Interesting debate over steak, hitting trees, etc. To clear the air, I have no debate with the difference between race pads (Brembo) and low dust pads. My '19 ZL1 daily driver is my pride and joy. I replaced a 2012 Corvette Grand sport, tweaked to 700 HP, and have not missed it a bit. The peer pressure to keep the Corvette in pristine cleanliness has stuck with me. Brake dust is not acceptable if I have to clean the wheels every time I take a ride.
So . . . as other posters have predicted, when my new Powertech Z26 brakes are cold, the initial bite is GONE. However, with a little more pedal pressure, I still stop before hitting the guy in front of me in grocery store parking lot. "What about sporty driving?" you ask. If you are as old as me (75) you recall what full metallic brakes were like. It took two feet on the pedal to stop when cold, but boy, did they get grippy when hot, and they were fade resistant. These new pads respond well to modulated pedal pressure when cold, and also get grippy when heated up. When heated, they exhibit a significant improvement in initial bite (not equaling the Brembo pads though) and greatly improved stopping power. I have not tried it yet, but I am convinced that I can initiate the anti-lock feature with reasonable pedal pressure, when cold and certainly when hot. Some 100-0 distance will be sacrificed, but I am totally comfortable at city and highway speeds. As for Autocross, dragging the brakes to heat them up as I approach the start will provide enough heat to increase the bite, and after braking hard into the first corner or two, I should have all the performance I need. I like my steak medium, with mushrooms, fried onions, and LOTS of butter. But that's just me. |

The excessive dust turns my wheels to a matte finish. When I get tired of the matte finish, I wash them and I get a gloss finish again. Works out great for me.

I switched to G-Loc pads a few weeks ago, dust is down a good 70% and the brakes feel better than stock.

Just as an alternative POV, I use the stock Ferodo pads and have the wheels ceramic coated, so all that brake dust comes off easily. Retaining the excellent initial bite and stopping power while making wheel cleaning less of a chore is my preferred tradeoff.
