Yeah, could not and would not have made that trade. I respect your decision to do what you felt was best, but there is no way in hell I could go back to driving something like that.

Best of luck to you, and I hope in a year you wont have buyer's remorse again!

Good on ya for biting the bullet and getting what suits you best instead of what everyone else tells you should suit you best.

Sounds like the right move for you, congrats. The 2.0T and V6 are great cars. We live in a strange time with HP everywhere and it is all too easy to get caught in the numbers game. Sometimes less truly is more, especially for a street car not looking for drag or lap times.

I've had many performance cars - some high HP FI V8s, some low HP 4s and 6s and can say there is no direct correlation with amount of HP and amount of fun. I have a V6 RS manual that is actually fun on the street because you can wind it out and it is comfortable. The way it handles reminds me a bit of an old school muscle car because it has a compliant suspension and is easy to get sideways if you want. It's fun!

Some may think you are crazy, but I understand and in many ways agree with you. I think this was a good move for you. Thanks for sharing.

2.0 is great except for tracking. Did you shop V6 for long term reliability? (aka, tried & true) Tip on flat plastic under headlights, no dressing & keep in the shade as much as possible.

I thought about a 2.0T 1LE for a DD but then started rebuilding salvage cars as well.

Personally I wouldn't replace my SS 1LE with one but I understand why you did given your circumstances/etc. I certainly don't daily drive mine either though!

Congrats on your new Camaro!

That was one of the most thoughtful and well-explained posts I've ever read on these forums. Obviously respect your decision, and hope the new car fits all your needs and wants.

I actually agree with a lot of it. I think the SS 1LE is overkill as well for a street car. You can't [safely] get anywhere near the car's limits on public roads handling-wise, but I do love the power. I also agree with you about the Recaros - awesome on the track, but too much bolster for everyday use - it's hard to get in and out of the car, and the side bolsters beat you up on rough city streets. And no doubt it's a big heavy car. I came from a 2 series BMW, which to me was a perfect-sized car, almost a foot and a half shorter than the Camaro. Yes, the Camaro is faster, grips better, and stops better, but is a brute in comparison and doesn't feel nearly as nimble.

I love the HUD, both in daily driving and especially on track, and don't see how it is intrusive at all. I wish all my cars had one. The skip-shift doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I bought a skip-shift eliminator before I even got the car, but never installed it. This may sound odd, but around town, I like when the skip-shift engages - it's doing its job and saving fuel.

Like another poster asked, did you consider other cars besides the Camaro? He listed the BRZ, 2 series, and Miata. I might have looked at the Focus ST, Fiesta ST, and Civic Si if I were looking to downsize. I would even have considered the 2.0 1LE, though you'd be right back in a stiff, large-ish car, with the Recaros and HUD...

Good luck going forward!

You really have no idea what he owed or what they gave on trade. Not everyone pays sticker and nothing down. My car is 11 months old and I have $4000 in equity on trade in. Now he may have took a big hit based on what he paid, but that doesn't mean rolling over money owed.

"Driving something like that"? What does "like that" mean?
