oh wait, you mean the key hole release in the back behind the top of the seat back. They tried that too........ They had to get in the trunk and pry the latch with a screw driver.

So it wasn't electrical, it was a mechanical problem with the latch itself in your case. Now I get it.

The “Coupe guys” have a pull strap that lowers the seat back.
