Could you have maybe over washed the rotors, like back to new?

I see so many people saying "breaks" instead of "Brakes" on here and other sites. NP. Fun is where you find it, right?

Mine squeaked a lot when the car was new. Most cars do. The pads are raw and rough and wear down fast until they are in a "burnished state" and then smooth out and are quiet.

Had the same issues. Replaced pads with ceramic one's. Issues solved with a very, very slight reduction in stopping power. As a bonus, no dust. If you track the car you will need to put the factory pads back on.

Just do some hard braking and it seems to go away. Mine were doing this recently (2 days ago?) and I just did 3 or 4 hard/late brakes to a make a turn and everything was okay.
The 6-piston Brembos just have this issue, they are noisy brakes. Even the cars at Bondurant(Challengers) had loud brakes. |

Powerstop Z26, about $125 for both front and rear on Amazon. Cheap, no noise, no dust. Reduction in performance is negligible on the street, but they are not track pads. Brake pads are very easy to change out w Brembo calipers. |

OK, here's another idea, but it normally applies to brake pads that have been just installed.
When installing brake pads, they come with a small tube of special high temp brake grease that you apply to the BACK of each brake pad where it meets the brake piston to prevent squealing. If that grease is missing, it could cause your brakes to squeal. |

No. Ideally, you'd resurface them by machining or sanding but IRL it's rarely necessary. I had no issues just throwing on the Powerstop pads, and for track use, maybe a light sand + burnishing when putting the stock pads back in should be fine too.
Burnishing is in the owners manual I think, it's just a series of hard stops. |

In my opinion if you put those brake pads on this car you have no business buying the car in the first place and should have just gotten a SS. Don't listen to people that say braking performance is not changed much, it's a lie. If you bought the ZL1 to go to parking lot shows then yes, it will be just fine. If you drive your car aggressively and do mountain runs or other performance driving you will not be happy.

I'm not making any judgements, but some of us save that for the track and drive well within the performance envelope of Z26 pads on the street. In my opinion, your opinion is on the fringe. Not how most drive... thank god. I hope you never hurt anyone. |
