You can have it wrapped with a tint to change it slightly. Then change it again next year. If it would have been white, you could have almost any color.

And congrats from a previous M3 owner. I had the 2012 V8 so I cannot speak for the 6cyl you had.

Also you way want to peak at the front springs on the ZL1, it looks to be setting kinda high in the front and I'd bet the dealer forgot to take out the shipping spring spacers, mine did. They are an orange rubber spacer, pretty easy to spot if they are still in there.

I am looking for dual purpose car that is reliable and fast on track.
Both M3/4 and ZL1 are reliable on track. ZL1 is faster. Tracking ZL1 might be easier than M as you can almost track it stock from what I heard, where with M you need dedicated track wheel/tire set, racing brake pads.

Both I can fit my two boys in the back. Both I can do a little bit grocery shopping. M strikes a more neutral balance between everyday living and tracking. But ZL1 delivers much more on the track.

Exterior and interior wise they are totally different. But I couldn’t care less.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some red interior, I've had 3 rides (including the current one) with red, and it's a great contrast with a neutral exterior (black/white/gray/silver), but against a pale yellow-green? Yikes.

I was kind of pushing for the optional red interior on the DDRT we just bought, but would've done that with a black exterior, and I wasn't ready for maintaining that acre of black ... wound up with Redline Red exterior (black interior), it's a blast on that truck

I think I'm going back the other way like you mentioned for my main ride too. After a run of those neutral exteriors (including another "**** me, why do I keep buying this color" black car) I've got my sights on a more bold exterior for the up coming ZL1 purchase: blue, red, possibly yellow (I had a yellow Z06, loved the color, just not sure if it works as well on the ZL1).

When I ordered the gold M3 3 years ago, I thought about getting red interior. Then my client adviser said “No, I can’t sell it if you change your mind”.

Thanks for the advice, the spacers indeed were there, just removed!
