I have an SS 1LE, but I'm really excited to drive the new turbo 1LE. The idea of a lighter, nimbler version of my car sounds like an absolute blast, especially for a small road course or the street. I've driven my friend's ATS and it is super fun. However, I believe the turbo 1LE needs the new 2.7L truck engine to truly be competitive.

If you have access to E85 the turbo seems like a better proposition. Flex fuel and a tune would probably yield low to mid 300 hp at the wheels. A 50/50 weight distribution and 400 lbs less weight vs the SS are going to make this car handle very well... it has a lot of potential imo.
However, once you add Recaros and a couple other things the '18 1SS 1LE, which can be had for a bit under $40k right now, seems like a much better deal especially considering adding flex fuel and upping the boost on the turbo would void it's warranty. |

with all the talk about no 7th gen for a while, I've been thinking about picking up a turbo 1LE. Any owners here who want to share?
I have a 2019 2.0T right now but Id like to do some tracking and I think the 1LE might be more up my ally. If Rally green turns out to be a good color I might pull the trigger in 2020 to get my "Forever" camaro (at least until 7th gen comes) thanks! |

i’m still not a fan of the grill and bumper arrangement. it makes me think of when you see someone stuff their upper lip into their gum line exposing the front teeth. cool cars, though. doubt they’ll sell very many...

See I actually like the 2019 non ss front fascia better than 16-18.

If I were a bit younger, I could see picking one of these up as a track toy. Getting into a track ready car for ~$30K that has a warranty and the consumables are actually affordable has more than a bit to be said for it. Track day insurance would be more affordable, too. Having fun at a slower speed isn't all bad. This would seem to hone your driving skills, too.
Yea, I get it that turning over 150MPH down the straight is way cool. Also, the SS, 1LE or ZL1 have tons of grip. However, consumables are real. Track day insurance on a ~$65K car is a real number.

A 1LT 4cyl turbo 1LE would be quite fun me thinks.

I don't see why this exists when you can get it with the V6

1. Why not, choices are a good thing 2. Maybe to try and steal some of the hot hatch crowd who like turbo 4s. |

I am all for there being an offering for those who want the 4 banger. Cant hurt Camaro sales right? Reminds me of years ago when a buddy of mine claimed his Dodge neon SRT-4 could really kick my 89 Camaros butt. So I let him take me for a ride and it had pretty good get up and go. Then he curbed in while trying to drift...lol. It was an awkward moment for sure.

Why is author talking about ending up in a ditch with V8 power? The stab and trac control keeps the 650hp ZL1's on the track, so why would they not keep a turbo 4 on the track? That stuff should be turned off only when you get used to the car at speed.
