I would not drive it to a place like you describe. We have a private parking lot at work and I still rarely drive mine to work. I work 13 hour rotating shifts, so it seems kinda pointless. Drive car there, sit outside for 13 hours, drive back home. I do it once in a while but not frequently. I say just leave the beast home, especially since you'll just be worrying about it the entire time anyways.

Everyone should have a beater. Doesn’t need to be expensive, something around a 10k car with AC and heater. Pay off in 2yrs and enjoy not taking your toy to the grocery store.

My 2018 zl1 a10 was hit in a parking lot when no one else was in the row I was in. A guy with a truck backed into the hood thinking the row was empty. At least he stayed. At work, I park mine between 2 cement girders or drive the prius.

ZL1 is my only car at the moment. At work I park in a garage in a single spot with concrete walls on each side.

Open parking lots scare me though. Always worried about door dings or even theft if I have to park it somewhere for a while and I can't see it. This area sucks for thefts.

While I park in a safe area for work (no real crime problems here) , I’ve had cars damaged by inconsiderate or careless people in the past. For that reason, I won’t leave my expensive cars on the street unattended for 8+ hours. At least not in a busy area with tight/limited parking.

I have a fun and at this point pretty inexpensive car that I use as a DD. My 335i is perfect to me. It’s still nice, looks good, handles well, makes great power, and sounds good. It checks all my gearhead boxes while being something I don’t have to stress about. I still try to park away from people at the store and such, but I’m not going to flip out if I get a rock chip or door ding like I would with my ZL1. I won’t drive a beater, but a car like this is perfect in my opinion.

This thread and it's comments are too funny since it completely hits home with me out here in Arizona whilst living amongst it's mindless millions.
Thankfully I've legally got myself a Handicap tag in my front window allowing me to use Handicapped spots, but you'd be surprised by the large percentage of people with a bitter scowl who walk by 2017 ZL1.
I'd imagine that it's either because they think it's BS that someone with a bad ass ZL1's honestly handicapped, or they're one of the majority in today's America that's financially F'd after the current decade recession thus making them jealous of my sexy hot black chick parked up front in a Handicapped spot.

In all fairness to those people, there are a good number of them with room temperature IQ's. That's what puts a smile on my face when I come across them.

So true.
Being born & raised in Connecticut which was accredited to be within the top 5 education in America prior to graduating H/S in 1991 I'm quite aware having lived in AZ since 1997 the lack of cognizance of most on this side of the country.

Cultural mores, civility, respect for property, etc., etc., sadly are not what they used to be.

My 2018 came with 2 door dings from the dealer's lot! I had those fixed at my cost since the dealer was not in the immediate area.

The ZL1 is my DD and my drive to work is mostly along beautiful Pacific Coast Highway. My work parking spot is a stand-alone slanted spot (for which I pay dearly) Like others, I park in the furthest, safest spots when "out in the wild."

Yesterday when I waxed the car I noticed a minor door ding on the driver's side rear quarter panel--no break in the paint so an easy fix I hope. Our cars definitely have soft skins. However, people in Southern California just have no shame or scruples and could care less if they damage the property of others. Sadly, I do not think this is confined to California... .

In the future I will just double down on my efforts to park in safe locations. :(

So I hate parking my Z anywhere for longer than 10 mins. My 2010 SS has a couple door dings from prievous owner and they make me sick.
My 18 Z is clean as a whistle.
ADHD I guess.

Thread hijack. Any of you Denver peeps want to go for a cruise? I’ve only seen half a dozen in the wild other than mine and good cars = good people?
