Reload says on the label it is ">5% Sio2." Hydro2 is 5% SiO2.

The ">5% SiO2" solutions require wiping off. The 5% SiO2 require only rinsing off.

The product exists so people don't spend their money elsewhere.
If you are a Blackfire user they want you to keep buying their products.
Nothing wrong with that.

Reset is great. The McKee si02 auto wash also performs well on my coated car. I think it was Kirk that recommended it. It did not disappoint. Smells great. Suds up well and seems extra slippery when washing. Water sheets/beads like crazy during rinse with any rinsing method.

Still find it interesting not a single person seems to have their interest mildly peeked considering the cost advantage of the new BF product. Maybe it’s sucks and it isn’t worth 35 cents! But maybe it’s at least as good as Reload. Maybe it’s better??? The history lesson about the progression of si02 products is great.....but it lacked price consideration. I get enjoyment out of using/trying a variety of products. I understand others like to stick to one or two things that work. To each their own!

I just had CQuartz applied to my car. I’ve seen videos where you “set” the CQuartz with Reload. Can you use BF crystal seal in place of the Reload or are they two separate animals?

No....CS is a polymer, you need reload to go over CQ

You should try out some side by side testing on the hood or trunk and see how it goes. I wouldn't mind using BF as a replacement if it's almost as good with half the price tag.

The main thing is customer service, if you buy from whoever and it comes in damaged will they replace it for free? If one will and the other won’t I’d get the one that would get it replaced.

TBH I doubt my OCD would let me do a split test panel like that. I’d rather just do the entire car with one product, and evaluate the application, finished result, and durability. I have a little experience with Reload so I will be able to tell if any of the 3 parameters mentioned are vastly different. I’m hoping for “not-inferior” and don’t expect anything wildly different. If that’s how it pans out....this product is a great buy at its price. I plan on starting a rinseless wash with ECH20 around 6pm PST, followed by the BF. I’ll post a few pics after.

Cliff notes: Tough call. I thought they’d be similar, the application was different, and each one seems to have its difficulties. If I had to pick which one I thought left a better initial appearance.....it would be Reload.

Side note: My car was coated with CQUK in Dec 2017.

I sprayed a heavy dose of the BF onto a Platinum Pluffle (my favorite towel of all BTW), and applied in straight lines across 1 panel at a time, and after 1 full pass/panel I immediately made a pass with the same towel perpendicularly. Then I buffed it with a separate plush towel. Buffed the first few panels with an Everest 800 and it seemed to kind of leave a hazy residue that wouldn’t fully disappear. Switched to platinum pluffle for the rest of the panels and it seemed to do a better job.....although some spots still seemed a tad hazy. Reload can be finicky with streaking if you aren’t fairly careful during application so neither one is 10000% dummy proof it seems.....but both are as close as you can get it seems for an si02 wipe-on-while-dry sealant.

I sorta recall Reload immediately leaving a darker “wetter” look during application onto the Red Hot that I liked. But I used a slightly different application process with Reload using a MF application square. Maybe that made a difference??? This product didn’t seem to produce as much of a wet look during initial application, but left a nearly similar wet appearance after buffing. The finished surface was semi-slick.....but not off the charts slippery or anything.

The BF consistency seems more like a spray detailer, whereas Reload seemed a tad thicker and special to me if that makes since.....like it didn’t just seem like colored water. No scent what-so-ever with BF if you are into that. I’ll update this post with its water behavior the next time I do a full wash.

As I am not a professional detailer, I will only be needing a product like this for ~4 applications per year. With that frequency in mind, I’d probably spring the extra bucks for the Reload.

Thanks! One of these days I’ll get around to doing a legitimate shoot with one of several pro-photog friends of mine. My iPhone 6s+ doesn’t do it justice!
