Nope, esp not during Tx2k. I didn't see any racing last night. Just a bunch of buys showing off their neon underglos.

So, question. I need a daily driver tire mixed with a good drag/street radial tire.

I already know about the R888R's. But, a forum friend was out with me last night on 325's with less power on R888R's and he still had traction issues.

So, I want a 20" rear tire that will hook on roll racing.

I'm looking at these...........your thoughts? And it seems they only come in a 305 which I guess is fine, but I'd prefer a 315 in the rear.

Any help would be appreciated and your opinions welcomed.

^ Looking at getting these. But, not so sure they are any better than the R888R's.

I got my ass handed to me by an under powered GT500 due to traction issues, so I now must focus on tires. It's that time. Good thing I didn't put up any money. haha. He had DR's on so he hooked, I didn't. I lost. I hate losing. Esp to a fkn Mustang that was 60 HP short than me. I was on pump gas tho, no E85 as I burned through my tank of E85 before the fireworks started, but still. No excuses. I need traction.

M6 or a A10?

Shelby owners lie all the time. That Shelby is probably putting out a 100HP that he is not telling you about. If he is running DR he is running some big power.

I'm A10 and that is a possibility. He pulled on me pretty hard and considering I had just whooped up on a GSXR 750 earlier, but he was in a crowd i was hanging with. I saw no reason for him to lie as he was goo gooing over my Zl1 anyways. No matter the case, he hooked up and went, I didn't so. Regardless if he was lying or not, I'm to the point where I'm over powering these stock Goodyears. I normally can't stand Mustang owners, but he was a kid and was down to earth in person. I saught him out anyways. He didn't come for me. Plus, all his buddies told me I had the HP advantage. We were having a good time just hanging out anyways. I wanted to run him. I figured beating up on GT's was boring, I might as well pick on a GT500 on Dr's. haha. You know, step up a bit on my end. I don't care if I lose as there will always be someone out there to out drag me. The lack of traction at the end of the night bothered me. I'm still trying to figure out where my sweet spot is on a roll race. I wanted a 30 roll in 2nd, he wanted a 40 roll, which puts me in 3rd, which I guess is prob my fault as I came up on the rev limiter quick on 2nd, hit 3rd, got sideways, meth hit hard, got sideways again. Just sucked.

ET streets work best for drag racing. (I can hook my 1,200hp Mustang on them.) R888R is a much better street tire as you can forget about taking any corners with the ET streets. And don't hate on the Mustangs... I daily drive a ZL1 1LE.

315/30/20 R888R's on stock offsets - no rubbing.
That should handle your 740 RWHP in 4th gear.

Yummy. But, I'm going to be 900 HP by end of April so. I'm like screwed. I might need two sets. My daily's and my set when I roll race. Will the R888R's handle 900 HP?

I don't hate on Mustangs. If anything, that was the only car I really wanted to run that night. I was tired of beating up on slightly modded GT's. I figured the GT500 with serious lope and DR's would be a good race. He handed it to me. haha.

NT555Rs. They hold the street, wear pretty good and with over 30 pounds of air have very little side flex. Just stay out of a hurricane.

LMAO - Don't ask me, I'm so far from 900 hp that I'd sound stupid pretending to know.

Also the 20" NT555R only comes in a 305/35 series. Check for rubbing. They are much cheaper so if you try them, post up your results. I'm curious about the Nitto's too!

After he posted that, I saw they only came in 305's. Not gonna work. I guess I'm just gonna say fuk it and get a set of 315 R888R's and see how they work for now. If they can't hold 900 HP, then I'll have my answer and I'll need to go with a smaller wheel with a DR and I'll just have to live with it.

I just don't want to keep swapping rear tires in and out, in and out when I go out for the night.

Nitto 555R's have half the traction of ET Street SS in the same size, especially without a burnout. The only advantage of the 555R is that it is usable in the rain. ET Street SS = death in rain (or 5 mph). Nitto tires run really narrow for the same advertised size, so check the tire specs on the websites. There was almost an inch of difference between a 315-35-17 ET SS compared to a 315-35-17 555R.

In my experience with the 555R...they're mediocre. They're a step down from an NT05R or ET Street SS. Their advantage is wet performance and they pay for it with traction. 555R is definitely not going to hook as good as an R888R. Listen to the Texas racers, they've tried them all. If they say they switched from a good drag radial to an R888R then I'd take their advice. I only see a few tires out doing an R888R in lateral traction and they're all going to be drag radials and slicks.

What size you running on the front? Will these 315/30/20 tires work on the stock ZL1 rims?
