Also, is it possible to stop getting locked out of 2nd and 3rd gear when upshifting from 1st? Everytime I shift I get an indicator on the dash telling me 1st to 4th and it locks me out. I put it in track mode and it never does that, but in tour and sport it always does.
I've honestly gotten used to the 1-4 shift, I've been driving very gently since I got the car. I want to break it in smoothly before I get to rowing gears and revving out the engine.

About the only odd thing I've noticed with mine is that the trunk won't open sometimes and I have to push down on it for it to open. I'll have it looked at once I stop by the dealer.

As I said, you can either pull down to second, release pressure for a sec and then go into 2nd or you can go 1st to 3rd with no issues.

The concept for the 1-4 skip shift is the same as the reverse lockout solenoid.
Does using a "Skip Shift Eliminator" wire-short Circ. also cause the Reverse lockout solenoid to remain redundant?
If so, then this would be a big No-No for such a "Mod" because a mistake in shifting that might get you into R by mistake, could cause damage

I am not sure about that, but with as many Skip Shift Eliminators that are out there(5th snd 6th Gen) I am certain someone would have made this mistake by now.

I think that this should be investigated.
The "skip shift eliminator" is nothing but a short of wires that disables solenoid activation. If this also deactivates the Reverse lockout solenoid (and this specific R solenoid does not have a circuit of its own), then this means trouble - as mentioned.
Maybe someone with first-hand experience with this "mod" can chime in and shed some light on this issue?

I've got a skip shift eliminator on my C6 and I cannot get reverse if there is any forward movement over 1-2mph.

IDK why but my car has stopped making me skip shift. I almost always ignored and usually went to 3rd, maybe it learned and gave up?

It does not affect the function of the reverse lockout solenoid. The R lockout is on another sensor.

I would avoid the 1-4 shift during break in. Not good to lug the engine. Just my $.02.

Thanks for this input. Good news!
Skip Shift Eliminator is legit

The skip shift and reverse lockout are 2 separate solenoids.

And you are not "shorting out" the skip shift, you are putting a resistor in place that "tricks" the computer into thinking the solenoid is still plugged in so that it doesnt trip a check engine light.

Put the HVAC in recirculate mode when you have the system off. This will stop the flow of outside air that inevitably will bring engine heat from the cowl with it.

There are ways to get around the skip shift, but honestly I usually don't have much of an issue with it. I barely noticed it during the break in phase because you don't want to lug the car around at low RPMs. Try letting the RPMs run a little higher before you shift to 2nd that will bypass the skip shift as it only activates when it thinks your trying to obtain max fuel economy. Also you will notice that sometimes you will get the message to skip shift but it won't lock you out.

Other things you might notice if you have an SS 1LE is clicking noise from the front brake rotors while cornering. There is a fix thread I posted about it, just clean the wheel mating surface and put some sort of lubricant on it to prevent corrosion and clicking from returning.

http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...front+clicking

NVH slight vibration in mid rpm moderate accelerations in some middle gears. Nothing to worry about here just a quirk of the car. NPP rattle. Can be fixed with an epoxy but seems to return after a few months still trying to get this one sorted permanently myself.

To me a must do free mod for all SS 1LE's is the "Sound Tube Mod" there is a foam damper that is placed in it near one of its connection points along the drivers side strut tower. Disconnect the tube there and remove the foam and reconnect. Make a large difference in sound. Sounds like an exhaust modification from in the cabin. After reading threads about it, it seems to be in place to dampen some funky sounds the A8 Camaro's give off when switching between 4cyl and 8cyl modes. Since cylinder deactivation isn't present in the Manual cars its a non issue and has no drawbacks.

If the car is running, you need to have the parking brake on to use the trunk release And since it's an electronic parking brake, it takes for-freakin-ever to engage it so you can hit the button.

This is definitely one of the "cons" of our 1LEs.

Sometimes I wish for a simply hand-brake.
